    My Slide is Cracking! Ruger SR9 {PICS}

    Probably has around 5K through it. Noticed it for a while now. The area where it's cracking is an inherently weak spot of the slide rail because it is seperated from the rest of the rail by the slide stop groove and the take down pin hole. I think it's from simple use and recoil. It's slowly getting larger and larger traveling horizontally towards the muzzle end of the slide. It still runs like a champ. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else that owns a SR9 and what you all think I should do about it. Keep shooting it til she breaks? Send it back?

    i'd call up ruger before anything else starts breaking. If the slide is starting to crack who knows if anything else internally is prematurely wearing.

      I'd contact Ruger to find out about repairs.

      But you've noticed your slide cracking for a while and you continued to use it?
      Were you hoping to be able to start a kaboom thread perhaps?

      I would have been on to Ruger at the first sign of failure like that.

          Well at first it looked as if it could have been a scratch. When I realized it was getting larger is when I started to get concerned. Took apart everything and internals seem to be in good order.

                I've dealt with Ruger a couple times, they have excellent customer service. I had an SR9, too. I loved that gun, but now I'm a Glock fanboy.

                  Wow I have way over 5,000 rounds through my SR9c zero problems. Sounds like you have bad luck. All of my Rugers have been tanks. Send it back asap. Ruger will more than likely fix/replace it for free.

                    Ruger takes the cake for making ugly guns. You get what you pay for.

                      Yea, that sucks. I would not fire it at all, could be a serious injury waiting to happen.

                          Oh crap. After only 5K? Anyone wanna buy a beat to crap SR9c?
                          While we're here arguing about the latest high tech running shoes, there's some Kenyan out there running barefoot. Guess who's gonna win the marathon?
