    1911 GUNSMITH

I am looking for a decent gunsmith in the San Luis Obispo - Santa barbara area. Will consider Los angeles if I can't find anything else closer.

Looking for a trigger job and eventual slide work.
Anybody know of somebody in this area?

Not sure about there, but on this side of town (LA County), you have Jim Hoag, Alan Tanaka, Will Ohara, and quite a few other reputable Pistolsmith's.

One of the first times I remember really "seeing" a custom 1911 (and I had no idea it was a "custom" gun) was in the movie "THIEF" with James Caan. The guns (a full house 5" and a 6" long slide) were given screen credit and the name of Jim Hoag as being the maker. My little understanding is...

If you head to Morro Bay, you can see what Randy Lee's, of Apex Tactical Specialties, turnaround time is.

          Thanks for the suggestions.
It doesn't look like Apex are 1911 specialists but they are local and seem to be inventive. I'll have to drop by and say hello.

Randy has plenty to do with his unique revolver work and his M&P parts/design/tuning business. He doesn't advertise it, but he was trained/mentored by one of the Master 1911 builders

i called apex tactical today as recomended since they are local, and was informed that they don't do any custom gunsmithing, only work on M&P pistols with parts they make.

                anybody else local?
