I have been wanting to buy a new 1911 for about 9 months now. I was planning to buy either a Kimber or a S&W. I really wanted the lifetime warranty and Kimber just did not have it. After this Sandy Hook thing firearms, especaily in So CAL are just really hard to come by except for if you want to get ripped off by someone that just bought a bunch for a occassion like this. Ammo is hard to find too and when you do find ammo they want $30 for a box of 9mm Tula. .45 ammo is more than that especially for quality ammo.
Well needless to say a did not get either one of those brands. To get on a waiting list and make a deposit of one is a 2 to 3 month ordeal and I was not willing to do that. I saw the RIA 1911 tactical and the GS had a few of them. I came home and did some research. I found that they are very reliable, have a lifetime warranty and were ALOT less money than the others. The RIA tactical had all the things except the night sights that I wantedbut, did have the tactical sights so that was fine. The extended beaver tail and the combat hammer were important to me also. My lat 1911 had the GI style hamme and I got alot of hammer bite from it and was not fond of it what so ever for that reason. It also has wood grips but, I can put any grips on it that I want along with anything else because its a standard 1911. Bad part it that it only has one mag.
Now the 10 day waiting period. Remind me again why registered gun owners need to wiat 10 days instead of just walking out with another handgun.
