    Ordered a Kimber TLE II

Well, I was looking a while ago for a nice 1911. And finaly decided on a Kimber. I was refered to a local FFL that could get me a good deal. It was nearly three weeks ago that I placed the order. He says that Kimber has backorders because of high gun sales. Said it could take two or three weeks.
Anyone else experience something like this? Is this normal?
I can't wait to try out my new toy!

The shop I work at is a Kimber master dealer and sometimes ordering can be a hit or miss thing. Sometimes we get the gun in 3 days. Some guns I have seen take months.

The TLE II is a popular gun (I have one) so I could see them not have any on the shelf.

How much did that set you back? Sucks on the wait time, I generally will try to find stores which have them currently stocked online & IRL, but it sounds like you got a "deal" on it so maybe it's worth the wait?

Don't know about Kimber being backed up, but I can tell you it's fairly common from some of the more popular guns to be on backorder. I had to wait almost 2 months to get a M1A Scout that I ordered...but it was worth it!

Kimber is a great product and if the manufactor doesn't have the item on the shelf, it will take some time for the dealer to get it. I ordered a CDP II from my dealer and it took 1 week to get it. I got lucky... you'll like the gun... be sure to break it in before deciding that something is wrong... Kimber recommends something like 400-500 rounds... I used ball ammo...

x2 the above on the above regarding the more popular versions being out there.

Kimber is hit and miss. I know for about 3 months we had a really ****ty sales rep with Kimber who would tell us "two weeks" for ANYTHING we wanted to order. Sometimes it would show up in 5 days, others took three months.

It sucked because all we could do is tell customers what our rep told us. When it didn't show up in two weeks....guess who got an ear full? We did. Some people just don't get it. It's not like we have a shop full of circus midgets in the basement making these things....

Also, with the unavailability of a lot of the Springfield 1911s, which are in the same price range, I've heard a lot of "I would get a Springfield, but I want it now, not a year from now, so what kind of Kimbers can you get?"

I finally got mine after almost 3 months of waiting. It was on back order and they told me 1-2 weeks so it didn't sound so bad until I kept on bugging them. Then they told me as soon as they get it, they'll let me know. But it was worth it to me...

Wow! I didn't know the TLE II was so constrained. I just happened to walk into one of my local gun shops on 4/11/08; it had just been received by them as it wasn't even yet on display; I bought it; and I picked it up 10 days later.

I'll be breaking it in over the next week and working the bugs out. I've already found my Wilson #47D mags aren't quite reliable yet. I suspect my slide stop is the culprit.

Oops, I meant April 11th, not October 11th (original post corrected). I suppose I'm just anxious to get this year over and start another one!

At the SportsmanWarehoure they told me do not special order because it would be MSRP, instead they put me on their wishlist for the Kimber Raptor II ( MSRP $1295), and only 5 days later, they called me to come to do DROS !! Their price is $1099, almost $200 under MSRP. I 've shot 600 rds thru it, no FTF or FTE, just perfect, off hand at 10 yards made 2" 5 shot groups, at 25 yards from benchrest made 3".
