    Subcompact Pistol ?s

I am looking to purchase my first subcompact-

    I currently have a full size Glock22 and a USP9F........

The subcompact occasionally would be used as a CCW (legally of course)...

Are there other manufacturers to consider in this arena? Or should I stick to the ones I know, and have experience with?

What caliber did you go with? I have .40cal and the 9mm as stated above, but should I consider another?

I was considering the G26, G27, or the G30 currently because of their size...

Thanks in advance for the help and input....

I have a Glock 36, single stack. .45 ACP. 6+1, or 7+1 with the Pearce grip extension. It's the thinnest gun Glock produces, and I like it very much.

As you already have a G22, the G27 is a natural companion. I'm a big fan of the Glock .40s(excuse me, "fo-tays") and have collected all four. One advantage of the .40s is that you can get .40->9mm conversion barrels if you want to shoot 9mm. You can't go the other way, though. You get 10 rounds in .40 or 9mm, though the .40 requires the extension to get the last round.
Great little gun. If I could carry where I live, that'd be the one.

        Subcompact or pocket gun?

Sometimes they get intertwined together. It's hard to go wrong with a G26 as you mentioned, another consideration could be a Kahr P9 if you plan to carry it IWB. Reason I brought up pocket gun is the PM9 is smaller than the P9, and considered the ultimate pocket carry gun currently.

        Just tossing others to consider:
        HK P2000sk
        S&W M&Pc
        XDsc
        Walther P99c

Of course different designations (subcompact/compact use interchangeably but it's the same size classified as a subcompact)

I have a Taurus PT145, 10 round .45 sub-compact. But I can't tell you squat about it because I have never shot it

If it was ME, I'd go for the G27 (or whichever is the subcompact 40cal) so it would match the G22 you already have.

Remember, with GLOCK you can use a G17 mag in a G19 and a G26 (but not the other way around) You can also use the G22 mags in the G27. Basically whatever caliber full size mag you choose will also fit in the same caliber subcompact since the mag release and feed lips are in the same location (meaning the extra length of the full size mag will simply extend past the grip frame, the mag will seat and lockup accordingly)

IMHO the best solution is to get a G27. This would allow you to carry it with the original 10rd magazine, keeping it super small, but would also allow you to use your legal full capacity G22 magazines as well.

Also I fully believe you should train with what you carry. Since you already have a G22, you should stick with a Glock so your muscle memory and training will allow you to maximize your effectiveness with the new subcompact.

Good luck in whatever choice you make.

Mmmmmm.. G30. Yeah it's a little thick, but I love mine and who can say anything bad about 11 rounds of .45ACP?

Ok ok, since you already have the G22, I take a good hard look at the G27 for all the reasons JPglee1 stated.

                Semi OT:

My good friend has had (3) PT145s. All 3 broke the frames at the back....

The first 2 he returned to Taurus and they replaced the frames (meaning a new serial # and 10day wait each time) for no charge. After the 3rd one broke he decided to not bother sending it in.

The damage is mostly cosmetic and the gun still runs with the broken frame but IIRC it broke near or thru the serial number...

Same friend has a PT111 (9mm) and it has never had any problems in 2500+ rounds. The PT145s all broke within 200rds of new. He was using regular 230grain FMJ loads (no +P+ or anything like that).

So YMMV but as an FYI keep an eye on the rear part of the frame...

To tell you the truth, I am really tempted by the G30...... and I don't even have anything in 45ACP.....

But the G27 does seem to make sense.....I have the feel for the Glock already ingrained.....

                    Another one to consider....

The new Glock 30SF is now on the (CA) approved list.

Go with the Glock Model 27.

The Glock Model 30 and Model 30SF are slightly smaller than the Model 19/23/32/38 but bigger than the Model 26/27/33/39.

                        Sub-Compact

For CC I wanted a Wather PPS, but it's not on the DOJ approved list, so will have to wait...

Next up on my short list was an XD9 or 40, but when I checked them out they seem too thick for my comfort...

Glocks are nice, thick too, have one, but can't carry it... The issuing agency for my CCW will not approve a Glock, due to a number of AD's by their officers So the PPS probably wouldn't pass muster even if I could buy one here...

                        I will carry an H&K P7M8, M&P 340CT, when they get here
