so i did some bad things the other day. i was field stripping my glock 19 and forgot to place the recoil spring back in before i assembled my pistol. (i know, ive done this a million times and this time was that stupid error) i racked it back upon realizing what i had done. it seemed to be stuck back and wouldnt budge. i ended up hitting the slide and it came back to the normal position. i ended up putting the recoil spring back and tried to rack it to reset the trigger. the slide gets stuck further than it normally should and the slide release doesnt seem to catch the slide nor have any contact at all. the only way to get it un stuck is to hit/slam the slide and it just springs forward back to the normal position. pulling the slide back just to the slide release causes normal operation. but once i rack the slide to chamber a round it pulls further and gets stuck again. please without too much hate mail what is wrong and how to i fix this please!

How far did you field strip the Glock? Just the slide/barrel or did you also take the pins out?May the Bridges I burn light the way.

Where are you located? If close to Magic Mountain, I'll look at it.Comment

I don't have a Glock myself but it may be wise to find a Gunsmith and see what he thinks is the problem. Not a good idea to force something that may cause more damage or even an injury."Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" [Matt 28:19]

thanks for all the help so far.. just realized its the barrel catching on the slide. its a comp model and as i press down on the barrel (with it stuck far back) it then drops and returns back to zero. any suggestions from there? smooth out the contact parts?Last edited by roor1200; 03-28-2013, 10:11 PM.2a foreverComment
