i got third place

i went to a police explorer chalenge last weekend and out of 200 people i got third plade in the shoot/dont shoot.



here are the guns i traind with trained with



bottom right = glock 17C

bottom left = airsoft glock 17 (for role play training)

top right = mossberg 590

top left = AR-15

the chalenge was in a F.A.T.S simulator. a projection of the situation is set up infront of you like a life size T.V. you are armed with a glock 22 lazer gun that is the same weight as the real thing. the lazer gun is loaded with CO2 rounds that cycle the action and simulate recoil (they can even jam). all you do is talk to the projection as you would in real life. if you give out good orders, the projected "bad guy" will give up. when you feel that you are justified to use leathal force you draw your gun and fire. if you miss, the projection can fire back at you. at the end the computer projects where you shot the "bad guy".
the officer told me i was responding to a man with a gun call and started the simulation, i see the guy with a .38 so i draw my glock 22 and start to yell "police drop the gun" "drop the gun now" "drop the gun or i will shoot" i see the guy start to aim at me so i put 3 rounds in his chest. i see the guy fall. the screen then tells me to "stand by". the instructor tells me that so far i am the only one who has lived and i did a great job.

Way to go Mossy. I don't like to hear that up to that point you were the only one to live. Sounds like your compadres need to practice more or something. I don't want to hear that in a live situation the PD having such bad results.

Is the police explorers for high school students? I thought it was for high school students who were interested in law enforcement as a possible career path.
