    Glock 27 Gen 4

I'm sure there has been other posts on this gun. I just can't find any. I've watched lots of youtube videos and "think" I want to buy one for my EDC when I get my CCW. BUT, it would be an online purchase sent to a local dealer (we are seriously rural and I have no chance to hold it first or fire one) So, what are your thoughts on the glock 27 Gen 4......? We have an XD and I like it fine, also shoot my dad's older model HK in .40 cal that I love. So those are my only 2 comparisons in the .40 cal....
    thanks!

I don't know what your carry requirements are, but I prefer something I can get a full purchase on. I carry a g23 iwb and it works great. I wont go any smaller than a g23 unless it deep carry (swiming, ect.)

Of the g27 I have fired, I liked them. They shot well, both the gen 3 and gen4.

I have a 27 gen 3 and I love it the smaller grip takes a but to get use to at first but after that it is just as easy to shoot as a full size gun
Haven't got a chance to hold the gen 4 27 but I would assume that it's going to be about the same as the gen 3 if not better because of the interchangeable backstraps
The only downsides of the 27 are limited capacity (9 rounds) with flush fit mags and the recoil of the 40 can cause a little fatigue in the palm of your hand but you can always cary an extra 22 mag in you pocket and the fatigue is only after firing about 200 + rounds in one range session
That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. Dosen't show up on your airport X-ray machines, here, and it cost more than you make in a month.

thanks for the advice....I have really, really small hands and this is what the CCW instructor I'm goign to use (also a go worker LEO of my husband) suggested I look into. We can get one for a great deal right now so, I figure, worst case scenerio I don't like it all that much and can add another at some point. I don't think you can have too many guns......I have heard it's pretty snappy. I'd love to see what someone says in comparison to the XD .40....that's hardly any recoil, at least to me. WAYYY less than then the HK 40 cal. I learned with! I appreciate it!

I have a G27 and I love it. It kicks like a mule because of the small frame though. I have friends that have fired mine and were amazed at the recoil. Bigger framed 45s have nothing on the G27 in terms of recoil. G26 is the exact same thing in 9mm for another option. You could always get the pearce grip extension for a full grip and stay compact.

The only downside of the grip extension is it makes the grip about the same length as a 23
The 27 is going to have more recoil / be more "snappy" than the xd because it is smaller and lighter also the .40 is a bit of a snappy round IMO
If hand size is an issue you might want to look into kahr sub compact .40s (cm40) it's a single stack so its slim downside is its only a 5 round flush fit mag

I looked into the xds and the m&p shield before I got my gen 3 27 but my only issue with them for ccw was grip length I have an issue with printing for my size and build with guns that have a longer grip
That and the limited capacity of a single stack mag
But for smaller hands a single stack mag might be the best way to go
Just my $0.02 and to each his (or her) own

I love my 27. It shoots just fine for me and I prefer the flush mags. I can see why some people may say it's snappy but a little training and it's good to go.

I have held the Kahr pm 40 a time or two. Really loved how it felt and want one at some point, but it's more than double I can get the glock 27 for right now. Recoil isn't really an issue for me as it will be a EDC, not really for fun. I have to say my little .22 mag revolver kicks twice as hard as any semi auto I've shot. My dad's good old .38 is a beast! 5 shots of that and your hands are stinging... Thinking I'll just get it and slap a houge jr grip on it and be ok. Later on I'll get the Kahr pm9 or one of the MK line...too pretty. Needing to spend less now so we can get the long guns we want before the year is out. Sigh.... at least we can still buy them (if you can find them)
