    Walking dead Glock pins

Sorry, no zombies here but I do have a walking Glock pin. I've owned and shot Glocks for many years and have never had this problem but after searching the Internet it is a known issue with the locking block pin in Gen 3 guns. I was recently shooting my Glock 34 at a USPSA match when the RO noticed at the end of my run the locking block pin sticking out a little. I pushed it back in and didn't worry about it until it happened again at the next stage and locking up the gun. I broke down the 34 when I got home and inspected the parts. All looked fine with some finish wear around the suspect pin. As mentioned earlier this apparently is not an uncommon problem. Well it has never happened to any of my other Glocks so it was a surprise and disappointment that Glock hasn't made this issue more public so I could have been watching for it. Now I shoot my 34 strictly in competition but I do have Glocks for self defense as many of you Calgunners do so I wanted to alert some of hyou who have been in the dark regarding his problem to watch for it especially with Glocks you expect to defend you or your family.

Further internet research found recommendations of replacing the pin, paint spraying the ends of the pin to add dimensions to where the pin passes thru the frame and if that is not satisfactory sending the frame back to Glock for possible out of spec frame holes. To date I've ordered a new pin, Hopefully that fixes it. I'm not ready to give up my Glocks just yet but in the mean time I'll inspect my other Glocks for loose locking block pins in the future and suggest you all do the same.

Now, back to the "Walking Dead", dons't you just love that Python that Rick uses? Personally, I'm carrying a Glock with hi cap mags in a zombie apocalypse. Can't these guys just get along. Isn't it enough trouble that zombiies are walking around trying to eat them. I think Rick should have just shot the Govenor at the meeting. Problelm solved go back to fighting zombies. Much more entertaining.

Glocks are no different from other guns all will need maintenance/repairs at some point. No machine is immune to failure.
I say just replace the pin and don't worry about it.
And yes Rick should of put a cap in the Gov a....
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

I replace any pins that appear unusually worn during my annual Glock inspections.

        Yep.

You talk about people who use their Glock for self-defense. Who the heck carries a pistol for self-defense and never cleans nor inspects it?

It's a total non-issue. Your pin wore out, you realized it, you bought a new pin. End of story. Keep on shooting.

I've heard of that issue but I thought that was only on the Gen 4s?

Dude the governor should have been dead long ago. Andrea should have killed him after she boned him!

Glock pins backing out does happen but I would hardly say its a known issue. I ran 125,000 rounds thru my G21 and have 2 G17's that are over 75,000 rounds each, and other Glocks between 15,000 to 25,000. One of my 4 G17s backed a pin ONE time at a match. Bent it slightly, re-installed and ran the rest of the match. Put a new one in, that's it. I only detal strip my competition Glocks once every 20,000 rounds so it's not the wear on the frame holes.

Having watched several slo-mo videos of Glocks firing and seeing what happens to the frame, I'm wondering if this pin walking business is caused by resonance associated with certain loads/springs?

Follow up. Installed the new pin. New pin did take more effort to slide into place. Measured both pins. Both meet specs. Old pin definitely more smoothly polished from wear. I'll take it to the range in a couple of days. If I don't follow up again just assume it's holding.

Bummed "Walking Dead" is taking a break again for the season. Why don't they just do a whole season like they used to. RIP Merle, I'm gonna miss him he was a good badass.

take the pin out and coat it in clear nail polish.

                          youll be fine

I carried a Glock for over 20 years and have or do own four more. I've never had or heard about a loose pin before. Sounds like an easy fix though.
If you buy anything because it has "tactical" or "operator" in the name, we probably don't run in the same circles.
