Ammo Run = Shame on Me!

I started in this hobby about 5.5 years ago with my first handgun Beretta 92 and a Mossy 500 pump for home defense. Back then I was getting 1,000 9mm reloads from Ammo Bros for $105 - good times!
Then came the election of our esteemed leader and the ammo run hit hard - it actually stopped all my shooting for a year plus until things calmed down.
The last few years back to the fun - fillin' the safe and plenty of range time . Then along comes Sandy and reelection and I am scrambling for overpriced ammo - particularly for my .22 and 9mm - I was just lucky that i picked up 1,000 rounds of .223 right before the madness at about $6.50 a box. Now i have to be very careful how much and how often I shoot
This is 100% my fault for not being prepared!

My commitment to myself - as soon as this calms down and the new price points become stable I will build my stock to the following:
    10,000 .22lr
    5,000 .223/5.56
    500 30.06
500 12 ga target + buck and slug for home
    3,000 9mm
    1,000 each .357 mag, .38 spl and 380
My plan is 1,000 bulk a month for the .22 or .223 and just a couple of extra boxes of the others each paycheck to get there in about a year.
Then when the next "crisis" strikes (and there will be more) I can just sit back and ride it out without having to waste money or change my behavior.
I highly recommend you do the same.

I had a nice stock pile but had a laps of judgement and took a few friends shooting who have never been. I brought everything out and we shot a lot of ammo. I had forgotten how hard it would be replenish my supplies. I still have ammo but not nearly enough to make me feel comfortable.

Keep in mind the price of ammo will never go back down to the level before Sandy.

OP, by my definition you are a lead slinging Zombie. You are unable to quench your thirst for lead and the smell of gun powder. Oh...and the big BANG that makes you quiver. It's not your fault! I know... I know...I know...

Troll. The OP calling himself an idiot does NOT help.

I think a lot of people will have that same idea.

              1. All firearms are ALWAYS loaded.
              2. Don't point the muzzle at anything you're not willing to destroy.
              3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you're on the target and ready to shoot.
              4. Be sure of your target and backstop.

IF ammo ever becomes affordable IN CALIFORNIA again. If the bill that bans Internet ammo sales passes, we may never see prices here much lower than now.

Not going to list my quantities however I have the back up ammo then the reloads and reloading supplies. I was ahead of the game when the 3 SHTF for ammo supplies events took place. I'm saddened for those who pay $170 for 525 rounds of .22LR or $350 for 8 lbs. jugs of powder.
With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.
