    S&W K-22 Masterpiece value?

Was in an LGS today, and they had a K-22 Masterpiece (pre-17) on consignment. Fair amount of wear on the finish, very light surface rust in spots. They wanted $550, and I'm trying to decide if it was foolish to walk away from it.

I've always wanted one, but it isn't at the top of my Want list and only have a limited gun budget.

    Any thoughts?

I would save a little more and get something in better condition. You can get a 95% pre 17 for 750ish. I picked this one up for $500, plus it has a three digit serial number. The value because of the low number is $2,200-2,500.

I'd love to buy it if you're ever interested!

...and where did you find that for $500? Wow!

I'd go back and offer $400 and wouldn't pay more than that for one that is pretty worn.

I think I would have taken the one today if it was $450. I didn't offer, though. It seems like everybody these days acts like you kicked their favorite puppy if you don't accept their excessive initial pricing.

$400 is a reasonable offer, and when they see you walk for the door sometimes there sad feelings turn to mutual agreement.

I bought this one a few years ago for $275. Not having seen the gun in question, I think that a K22 with finish wear and some rust should sell for around $400~450. Add $100 if it has the box.

I found it on snipershide, the best deals are on dedicated to other types of gun forums, you'll never get a good deal on the s&w forum for a s&w but you sure will on glock talk.

I'm with you... I would certainly pay $450 for it.

I paid more for mine, but I want to keep it Mint... Which means it sits on my office desk in a display case. I like to show to my friends/clients, so it gets handled quite a bit to admire it's Quality and Workmanship...
but I rarely take it to the range to shoot it, nor would I carry it afield in this holster. I know that's weak as hell, but honest.

I'd love to pick up a 17 with honest wear already on it... so that I could really enjoy it as it was meant to be enjoyed. I currently have a couple of stainless 617 10-shots that fill that role.
