You're going to be stuck looking for a 19 in state unless it is more than 50 years old or is converted to a single shot and then back to SA/DA when you pick it up. You cannot go wrong with a Model 19. I have more .357s than fingers, and the Model 19 is the last one I'd give up. You can find more expensive ones, bigger ones, and heavier ones, but for an all-in-one, you can't do better.

Thanks for the info, that's what I thought.

Too bad California sucks. It's good enough for the Highway Patrol but too dangerous for the average citizen. Yah I know preaching to the choir.

How about a Model 66 4-inch? It's the same revolver, except in stainless. I've got one, and it's my favorite (and most accurate non-22) pistol. Best of all it's still on the list and you can find used police revolvers for a decent price.

That is an interesting statement as the CHP never issued or authorized the 4" M-19 for duty...or any M-19, for that matter. One of the requirements for duty revolvers, used as a duty gun by the CHP, was that they have 6" barrels

+1 for the mod 19. One of my favorite tools and always dependable.

Thanks for the suggestion I will have to check that one out too. I believe the 66 is just a stainless 19?

I thought someone had told me that? I must have mixed up the info.

                I'm still learning about revolvers.

I was lucky enough to be gifted with my dads 19-4.

Beautiful firearm. Shoots great and looks great. My favorite gun out of my whole collection, including my P226.

The 66 is a great gun. As was stated they are nothing more than a 19 in stainless. The K frame Smiths are one of the best balanced handguns ever made and as long as you don't feed one a steady diet of 125 gr magnums they will last forever.

Check your favorite FFL about receiving the M 19 for you. I just bought one on consignment from a store. It's possible, check it out before going to a different model. Love the M 19 !!
