    LOL! JeffM

You are the reason I need to get one of these:
You mean the modified mosin or the hoodie?

A hooded sweatshirt works great for keeping out the brass!
I've worn them at early morning pistol matches, and never had to worry about hot brass going down my shirt.

Hot barrels on the other hand...
I heard that it helps if you have a shoulder thing that goes up

I would venture to guess it isn't a million to one either. I've had that happen, and also had them go down my shirt as well. Interestingly enough shooting outdoors in the winter doesn't seem to help things for me every once in a while if you are wearing something with a hood. I sometimes find a spent casing in there.

My USP used to eject directly backwards (it still has weak ejection, but I think that's a different problem) and every case would hit me direct center of the forehead.

Then I got my P7M8, every so often it ejects to the side really hard, bounces off the divider and nails me in the side of the head.

I went to Los Altos and my friend standing next to me with my 10/22 would hit me in the neck with the casing from every single shot. Annoying, that's for sure. Really annoying when he went rapid fire. (which reminds me... I need to fashion some sort of brass catcher for that thing...)
