    10 Days and counting!

    Hey Calgunners!

I want to thank everyone again for all the great info I have gotten from this site. I had been looking for a couple of months for a Stainless Ruger P94 in 9mm and had very little luck until I found an older post here on the site.

I sent an email to the seller on the off chance it would still be available. He took a little bit of time to get back to me so I figured it was gone but he still had it and had just been busy so didn't have time to respond.

A few days later and here she is waiting for the 10 days to pass!

The FFL said he had been checking it out before I got there and it looked like it had hardly ever been fired. The seller stated that he had about a box of ammo thru it in total and I guess it wasn't a joke!

The only issue in this otherwise smooth transaction was the fact that the FFL noticed that the mags looked like hi-caps and just to be sure decided to load them to see how many would fit...he stopped at 12!

So, I have to find some new 10 rounders. I couldn't do anything with them and the FFL said he could only sell/transfer them to LEOs so I got stuck with no mags. The funny thing is that the seller didn't mention it when we spoke and I didn't make the connection when he stated "double stack" mags in the post thinking that everyone knows hi-caps are not kosher in Kalifornia...lesson learned, but otherwise a smooth transaction and now I know how to go about this process. Time to get a safe....

Range Report to follow after the 25th. Oh and BTW, please let me know if anyone has any 9mm 10 rounders for sale!

    Congrats!
Always nice to hear when someone finds exactly what they're looking for.

Technically it's not illegal for you to buy hi cap mags, it's illegal for the seller to sell them as complete magazines, they could be broken down and included as rebuild kits to rebuild your preban magazines. You should ask the FFL to either return them to the seller so they can be transfered to you as rebuild kits, or else break them down and return them to you. Since the FFL is only transferring the gun, he has no right to keep any accessories it came w/, just my 2 cents.

(if I read this wrong and the FFL didn't just confiscate the included magazines I apologize, and you should just have the seller include the rebuild kits.)

"Double stack" has to do with the way the rounds stack in the mag not as high capacity. As opposed to single stack where they are one right on top of the other. Double stack are a thicker width mag as well.
Be sure and get your mags back from the FFL or be compensated for them by him.

I may have to talk to the FFL as he pretty much made it seem as if he could not give them to me and could not send them back to the seller.

He was uptight about it and I really didn't want to argue the point as I was just drosing it at the time

Maybe if the seller requests them back?

Don't even worry about these mags unless you possessed hi caps prior to the ban.

                yeah...

It seems like more trouble than it will be worth but I know for next time. I am just going to get some 10 rounders for it and be happy with my new purchase

                Thanks!

The FFl shouldn't be keeping the mags though.

                  Nice gun..

I can't believe the FFL pulled a fast one and kept the mags. If nothing else the seller could have kept what is otherwise LEGALLY owned "hi cap" mags. I question the legality of transferring "rebuild kits" to you from the seller if you didn't own similar mags already. However, it's absurd that the FFL kept them. Sounds like the seller needs to be the one to ask for them back. I know the dealer is just legally doing their job, but they are also pulling a fast one and procuring mags that aren't really theirs. A stand-up dealer would've told the seller that he can't transfer the mags and made him keep them.

                    Just my 2 cents

+1 just contact the seller and let him know what's going on since he didn't say anything about it
