    Shot my "new" single six!

Was able to get out to the range this weekend and shoot my "new-to-me" single-six .22/.22 wmr that my girlfriend bought me for my birthday. Its an "old model" that has not been converted with the transfer bar safety that I believe was manufactured in 1965.

This is my first revolver and I have to say shooting it is a real hoot, I think I might be hooked on single actions (and revolvers in general)... It shoots great, and seems to be plenty accurate so far. The trigger has a real nice crisp break. Spent the entire afternoon shooting at angeles this past weekend. Its really nice to be able to run 200 rounds without thinking about how much each shot costs and not being worn out/fatigued afterwards.

Oh, and the first shot out of my xd40 was a real "suprise" after being used to the non-existant recoil from the .22....

Yeah the Single Six is not only a classic but a good time as well. My first gun was a "New Model" Single Six. My Dad taught me to shoot with it when I was four, he used to hold my arms up and let me aim and pull the trigger. I still take it out every once in a while, or any time there is going to be first time shooters, it's perfect for training. I share your sentiments when it comes to going back to the bigger guns, it can be quite a shock after you get used to that .22. I'm glad your having a good time with yours.

I've had mine since '68 and it has digested thousands of .22 LR's and danced with many cans and golf balls. Truth be told it's my "if you could only have one" gun. Enjoy !

I absolutely love mine, it is a dream to shoot and points naturally. I just got a holster for it from Simply Rugged and it simply kicks ***!

Ah, the pistol my dad used to teach me how to shoot. I still take it out once in a while and it never gets old to me. Anyway, enjoy your new toy and never ever think of selling it.

I have a stainless NM Single-Six convertible. Love it. With the price of ammo these days, nothing like going out with a brick of .22s and blasting away without seeing dollar signs every time you pull the trigger. Would like to get an Old Model some day to get the classic action.

God you hit on a hertstring here! About a year ago my father passed away and when I was cleaning out his apartment I wondered if he still had the old Ruger single six he purchased from Sims hardware way back in 1962. the coroner recovered the Walther PPK so it was safe and later I got it after the usual paperwork and wait, but it had little sentimental value to me like the single six. As I continued to clean and pack stuff I came acrossed the new model .357 Blackhawk in one drawer they missed. Again as I continued to clean and pack I came acrossed a strong box with a lock and I wondered if it may be in this box. After finding a set of keys that had the key to the lock I opened the box and what to my wondering eyes appeared? The very same Ruger single six I learned how to shoot with so many years ago! After some cleaning and tender loving care it still shoots and looks just as good as it did when I was a young kid. I have several firearms in my collection, but none as valuable as this revolver. I will continue to care for and enjoy this finely crafted firearm and maybe someday I will pass it on to my son.
