To all the tinkering 1911 gurus here, can you help me figure out my sight issues? My front sight was bend when i first received the gun, just so I can get it out to the range I used pliers to straighten the front sight.
When I first took this pistol to the range, it was dead on at 50ft. At least that's what I remember. I then fully disassemble the gun for cleaning and blurring of some sharp parts. Last time I took the pistol out, it was shooting to the left. At 50 ft about 3-4 inches or so. I got 1" groups but they were always 3-4 inches to the left. I zero'ed the pistol using rear sights adjusting the windage until I was dead on. Now looking at my gun, the rear sights is about 1mm off center to the right. Is that normal for a 1911 pistol? Could I have moved the front sight somewhere during tinkering even though i did not touch it? Could I have put the pistol back wrong, causing some misalignment somewhere? I have a new Dawson Precision front sight which I want to install, but wanted to ask you guys see if there are other issues that I might be missing. The oem front sight looks to be center, maybe a touch off, but it's hard to tell without calibers.
