I agree. You can only get better. Not sure about only competitors being able to shoot that tight. I've seen lots of shooter that can do this. Trick is to relax I've also seen shooter miss all 10 shots at 7 yards! 20 yards does seem like a odd distance for a range though. Most indoor ranges I go to are 50 feet(17 yards), or 75 feet(25 yards). Was this an outdoor range?

Do you have any training or experience in shooting rifle? I had a friend brought along his old Marine friend of his to the shooting range. He was trained in using the M16 rifle back when he was in the Marine but never shot a pistol before. First time with a pistol he shot a 3" to 4" 10 shot group at 15 yards so it's doable.

not trying to bash, just i have yet to see someone pull a nice group like that with their first handgun (let alone a glock where most people shoot low left) ^_^
Not my first time shooting. But here's my latest target with my first (and only) handgun — 15 yards. I think it was about 25 shots or so. I've shot better. But for some reason this 1911 is difficult to keep consistent.

Indoor. Guy said it was 20 yards at the very back.

TIME TO STEP UP. TOO MUCH CHATTER

Well, I am a huge fan of empirical data and witnesses so to that end, I'll try and put an stop to this. If you did it once before and it was your first or second time you, in theory, you can repeat it. Here is my challenge, if you will.

You show up at a predetermined time at the firing line indoor range on or before march 26th 2013 located at 18348 Eddy St Northridge, CA 91324.

I will be present and I will also bring an independent witness and a video camera. I will pay for your lane and supply you with ammo (24 rounds of factory loaded .45 ball ammo) You will shoot the rounds "cold" ie no warm up. Just show up and shoot. Nine rounds at 10 yards and fifteen rounds at 20 yards.

What you need to bring is your Glock .45 and your purchase receipt as some form of proof that you just started shooting and your HSC card. Again to show some proof that you haven't been buying and shooting guns for a longer than described period of time.

We will recreate the scenario. We will film said scenario and post the results.

If you can duplicate the original targets at those distances then I will give you $25 cash. I will also donate $25 to Calguns and $25 to the NRA-ILA.

If you fail, then it's simple you lock the thread and we don't talk about it again.

And just to be clear I want to see it with my own eyes, I hope you can pull it off. No, I do not believe the story. Something isn't right. Either you are a shooter with the proper trigger time and you are yanking our chains or You shot those a lot closer than ten and twenty yards.

            So what do you say?

Snap! I thought the lines were 5 yard increments.
This is what I don't get. So they were 3.3 yard increments? Odd.

This. My first gun was a 357 with a 6" barrel and my first trip with it, I was like a laser. Then I started shooting other guns as well as picking up bad habits (flinching, anticipating recoil, etc) and for a while my shooting really went downhill. What I really should have done was get a professional instructor rather than waste a year and countless ammo trying to correct it and "recreate the magic" myself.

I find a lot of shooters do well when they don't know how recoil really feels. You teach them the basic mechanics and they follow through the trigger pull without any bias. Good shooting, but practice to keep things consistent.

You're probably right. After a few mags I did notice I was anticipating the recoil and flinching quite often. It's probably just beginner's luck. I definitely want to take a class though. I have no one-on-one training and could probably benefit from it.

Call Youtube and see if they can come by and verify your shooting, as well.

That's ok, I'm not selling it . if I was trying to lie about it (like lying about something like this benefits anyone in anyway), the groups would be much smaller

...so are you going to take the $25 challenge? : ) If truly 10yd and 20yd then I will be the first to say this is phenomenal shooting with a Glock. A Glock is perfectly accurate but typically it takes time to get used to the trigger. Trigger modulation, sight usage, and flinching are (in my opinion) the biggest influencers of results.
To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
                              And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;

You are definitely right. I didn't shoot that the whole time I was at the range. Just put up a new target for each and tried to shoot the best I could.
