    Kahr MK9 (all steel pm9), PM9, P9 or K9

Looking for thoughts on this, if you were a woman and have a hard time concealing guns, and wanted a smaller gun than a glock 26 and as thin as possible while retaining 9mm what would you go with?

The MK9 is a steel PM9 and the K9 is a steel P9. I believe the K9 is the approved off duty gun for the NYPD for a number of years.

These guns are only .9" thick so they are even thinner than the M&P shield.

might still need a pocket gun like an LCP but I think the LCP, MK9 or PM9 combo and a glock 26 would be pretty potent for 3 carry guns. My reasoning for the MK9 over the PM9 is better recoil impulse control as it is 8oz heavier than a PM9. The guns would be for my girlfriend who already carries a glock 26. Hopefully she will post on the subject as well because relaying opinions gets old.

I really like the K9. I had a P9 and it was fantastic as well but, the K9 is my favorite Kahr. I did notice a difference between the P9 and K9 with respect to recoil...but honestly the P9 wasn't bad; the K9 was just a real smooth soft shooter. It might be a bigger difference in the smaller pistols but, I don't have any experience with them.

The difference in weight was negated by a good holster/belt combo and that is what made me stick with the K9 for carry...that is when I lived in a state I could carry in...

If you want to also be able to pocket carry it then go with either the MK or PM.

I love my PM9 but I couldn't recommend it to anyone that's sensitive to recoil. Most girls watch us and promptly decline to shoot it. I don't push them either. If a girl shoots a G26 and a G27 side by side and they find the G27 uncomfortable, then a PM9 kicks noticeably harder so it may not be for them. I don't think the MK9 is any easier on the hands.

I have a PM40 and recommend the K9 or MK9 instead. The steel pistols have a better reputation for durability and reliability and the extra weight will help with recoil. The little plastic guns are a handful to shoot.

I own a MK9 and coincidentally it belonged to a friend's wife who felt the MK9 was too heavy for her to shoot for long periods of time.

I would take a long hard look at a PM9. Once you get passed Kahr's long trigger pull, you'll feel safe protecting your life with it. They make great conceal guns due to them having no external safety.

I think Guntests did a big testing on two of them.

I helped female friend through the same choice last year.

She was lucky enough that she could actually afford to buy both and try them out for a while before determining which would work best for her.

She started with the P9 as renting a PM9 showed her that the longer grip frame made a huge control difference. She shot the P9 and the K9 during a couple of 1 day classes and finally chose the K9.

Her hand would ache after much practice with the lighter P9...and she understood that she needed practice to be good enough to use it for defense. The K9 made going through a couple hundred rounds during a training class much easier.

She ended up with it in a Remora holster in the appendix position under a loose top or a sweater

this has me wanting to switch up my carry setup...

move the G20sf to a G29 gen 4 w/ an extended 4.6" barrel for hiking this would bump the G19 off the permit as well freeing up room for a thin 9mm enter the S&W shield (bumping the G26), and then get a pocket gun the PM9! voila!

damn, only 1 glock left. so sad. poor gaston needs to make stuff that isn't so FAT!!!

I just got a CW9 2 months ago and have run over 500 rounds thru it with no issues. Another 1,500 and I may put it on my permit.
