My favorite is the G30 and the 17. I would suggest get to an in door and rent a few different ones so that you don't turn into a Glock collector.

Glock 22 or 23. You can buy a 9mm barrel and a .357sig barrel. With these two separate barrels, you'll have 3 guns in one. If you also buy a 22LR conversion barrel and slide, you'll have a 4-in-1.

Glock 17 or 19 - you can only get the 22LR conversion barrrel and slide.

At this point, I'd suggest a gen3 instead of gen4. Gen4 is new and does not yet have the years of proven reliability like a gen3. But that is not to say gen4s are not reliable. Just not as many years of proof.

If you are only to get one Glock, then get the G34. Other than CCW (although you can), it is the best choice for competition, USPSA Production, IDPA SSP, Steel Challenge, GSSF, and 3 gun. Works good for target practice and home defense. But be careful, one Glock usually leads to more...

I would buy all three if I could.lol. do any of you know a website with good prices for them. I can't find them locally. And I'm looking a for a new one since used prices are out of this world. Has any of you ordered a gun from glockstore? Heard some bad things.

If you're on a budget, 17. If not, I'd go 22 and get a conversion barrel. Having the versatility of two calibers is great when ammo is scarce.

I would start out with the 21sf if you can find one.

                              Re: Glock Models

You may find this helpful in your selection process, though it may be out of date. It's from the Glock Catalog and is a nice concise summary chart of the different Glock Model pistols.

I like the G30 an awful lot. Ten rounds of 45acp, in a compact package. And the gun doesn't trade off a lot if your hand can handle the big grip. You would be hard pressed to find another 45 in the market that compact, that holds ten rounds, and shoots so well.

So I would recommend you get the G30 and either a G17 or G19.
