BNIB Ruger P89DC, store it or fire it?

So a friend of mine has a brand new in box never been fired Ruger P89DC that I will be getting for very low out of pocket.

My brother tells me I should get it and store it. This gun does not appear to be a collectors item like his King Cobra CCL, so I don't see why it should be a safe queen.

Am I missing something or should I get it and enjoy a brand new gun for essentially free?

A Ruger P-series is about as much of a future collectible as a Toyota Tercel.
I'd just shoot the snot out of it.

They ARE GREAT GUNS though. Just not collectable (you'll be able to sell it anytime - used or NIB, but not get a ton of money for it).

I'll never sell my P90... And I shoot better groups with my P90 than any other semi-auto I've ever held..

Good job - enjoy it and you can't wear it out!

Someone sold one near me a few weeks back saying he'd put 4,000 rnds thru it, and it looks just like that one!

Shoot the thing and shoot it often.

Shoot it. Definitely. I have the P95DC, these things are pretty much indestructible and are NOT collector guns. Have fun with it, IF you have any ammo to shoot out of it.

I just sold the exact model to someone here for $300 with three 15 re-build mags and 1 ten round mag.

I miss that handgun. It feels a tad akward and is pretty big but shoots sooooooo awesome.

It's supposedly a low end semi but i used to put a whole mag in a ragged 1" hole with it.

I have a P89DC as well. Bought it new in 1993. There is only a $50 - $75 difference in value between used and BNIB. Shoot that bad boy!

The ammo you shoot out of it is worth more than the gun! Sad times have come down to this!

I just bought one of these used. What a great gun to shoot with nice small groupings. Shoot that sucker!

Shoot it and enjoy it then shoot it some more and enjoy it some more because it will never be a collectable. I have a P94 9mm that I bought unshot and enjoy shooting it. Enjoy and be safe.

They go for about 300 new, had one for 15 years and sold it for what I paid for it. Wish I would of just kept it as a beater gun, always went bang but had a bad trigger and is a bit heavy and ugly.
