    Sig P220 and ammo question.

Might be a noob question, but I was browsing .45 ACP, and started wondering if a P220 is rated for +p. Does anybody know the answer?

I haven't seen any +p+ in .45 yet, and probably wouldn't consider it.

If I ever start considering .45 ACP +p+, I'll just set the Sig down and pick up my AK.

      But +p interests me.

Q: What kind of ammo can I shoot from my SIG SAUER pistol?
A: SIG SAUER recommends the use of only newly manufactured ammunition meeting SAAMI (www.saami.org) and/ or NATO specifications.

In 9mm Parabellum, +P ammunition meets SAAMI specifications and therefore is approved for use in current-production SIG pistols.

On the other hand, +P+ is not a SAAMI specification and is therefore not approved in accordance with the above guidance.
That said, many of us use at least limited quantities of American-manufactured +P+ ammunition in our 9mm SIG pistols without excessive concern or problem.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I shoulda checked the FAQ at Sig. I'm a noob.

          Ontmark: It's not 9mm, it's .45. It isn't a sissy gun.

No one ever wants to talk trash about my 9mm and then stand downrange of it even though it's just a sissy gun and obviously is perfectly harmless

Modern 220's are +p rated. Older 220's made after 94 are +p rated. If you get an older one, the recoil spring will have green paint on it.

Lol, jeez, guys. Relax. I'm just talking good-natured smack. If I'd have had an opportunity like this one pop up with a 226, I'd have taken a 226 in 9mm in a heartbeat. I almost impulse-bought a 225 because I've been dying to get a Sig for a while now.

It just happened that I got a .45. Now I'll rib 9mm (and .40) shooters from time to time. Just like if I wound up driving a Chevy, I'd talk smack to Ford guys, but since I've got a Ford Bronco out in the driveway, I'll talk about how Blazers suck all day long (till a Jeep owner comes along...).

                  If I'd wound up with a 9mm, I'd be smack-talking .45 shooters. I don't know what about, but I'd do it.
