    P229 Enhanced Elite 9mm value

    Hey Folks,

I'm new to the world of Sigs. I've always only ever shot 1911s and a couple revolvers. I was recently shooting with a friend of mine, and he had a Gen4 Glock 23 and a Sig P220 (in .45). Wasn't really a fan of the Glock, but I liked the Sig. It's closer to a 1911, I guess, which is why it felt natural to me. I'm okay with the idea of the compact nature of the 229, especially as a change from my government 1911. I haven't handled one, personally, though. I'm looking to pick up something in .40 or 9mm, mostly for variety. I was thinking about getting something in 9/.40 for my lady, but she actually likes my 1911, so I guess this would be almost more for me.

I came across a Sig 229 Enhanced Elite in 9mm, with <100 rounds through it, 3 mags, SRT, night sights, holster, etc, for $850 out the door. It seems crazy to me to pay that much for a handgun (I got my Colt 1911 for less than that, a couple years ago), but from what I've seen, that's fairly competitive. For those more in tune with market price and value, is that a good price?

Any recommendations or advice for entering the Sig market?

I figure, they do tend to keep their value, and if it's a good price, I could always trade or sell it if I end up not liking it.

    Thanks for any help!

$850 sounds right. They go for about $900 new. They aren't as popular because of the LCI on the top of the slide. At least that is what shied me away from buying one a year ago.

Oh, that's gross. I just googled that--didn't know about that. The one I'm considering does not have that, though.

$850 for a 229 Enhanced Elite w/o LCI in California is a great deal. It's a great shooting gun. Feels great. The only advice is a word of warning. Once you get one Sig you'll want more.

Seems about right from what I have been seeing in SoCal. I would jump on it. You can't go wrong with a Sig. Especially in this market. If you don't like it, you can turn around and sell it fairly quick.

            Cheers.

I have the 229 Enhanced Elite in 40, I bought mine new for over $1K, so that sounds good. My other pistol is a 1911, I can still shoot more accurately with my 1911 but just means I need practice. It's a great pistol, super comfortable, and a blast to shoot.

The hardest thing will be finding a holster that supports the front cocking serrations. That's what I'm in the hunt for now.

Sig makes an Elite caliber exchange kit in 40sw w/o the LCI which works with the NH Exter frame, then sell the one with the LCI to someone who has the 9mm, but wants 40sw also. I sold my Enhanced Elite which I removed the mag disconnect safety with that non LCI Elite exchange slide, came with night sights, black Nitron barrel, guide rod, spring, and one mag. Replaced it with the military over run German frame P229 with DLC coated frame and barrel, full 1913 picatinny rail:
