I've searched for Auto Ordnance 1911, AO 1911, Kahr 1911 etc on the CG Forums and can't really get a good perspective on my quesitons;

What are your thoughts on a NEW Auto Ordinance 1911?

Probably a fair starter-outer, but AO doesn't have the absolute best rep.

What's really NEW about any 1911?

I bought one about five months ago 600 rounds later I have yet to see a malfunction . I personally think it is a good starter pistol I have the WWII replica. But all in all a good 1911 but not the best.

Thanks PachecoFTW, I have read good reviews on the 1911. I figured it would be a good starter. I've always had an affinity for 1911. 9 days!

I owned one as well.. really sweet replica of the original m1911 that our boys used back in WW.. as for functionality, it works fine. I have brass just keep hammering me in the face shot after shot, so did a buddy of mine.. ended up trading it out..
BUT........if your looking for an American pistol made in America.. get it...

i have one and have about 500 rounds through it. I like it so far, no issues. I dont have the problem of brass hitting me in the face. good replica

i was researching AO 1911s because my father gave me one. AOs from West Hurley, NY with serials below 2000 are said to be solid. After 2000 up til when Kahr took over were hit or miss. Production seems to have tightened up when Kahr took over.

I just bought one but haven't fired it yet.

Just picked mine up last weekend. I will be putting some rounds through it this weekend. I've read good things on it since Kahr is making them. Everything I've read seems to indicate that the magazine is the weakest link on the gun. Purchased some Mec gars to remedy that. Looking forward to this weekend!
