    Underwood 158 gr. .357 - Trail Load?

I'm looking for a jacketed Factory Trail/Field load for a NM Ruger Blackhawk .357/6.5".

The Underwood fodder looks pretty exciting at 1475 fps. (test Bbl. UKN) for both the 158 gr. Gold Dot and XTP offerings. $0.63-0.71/rd. respectively is also pretty good considering, as it comes in 50/box. At anything near 1400+ out of the 6.5" revolver? That would be an impressive round.

Anybody here have any experience a/o Chrono data on this ammo out of a 4"+ Bbl'ed revolver?

    TIA.

If this is for 4 legged protection, I would go with the heaviest Kieth style lead bullet available. Works well for 2 legged critters too.

For an outdoor/trail load I would go with a 200gr. flat nose hardcast for deep penetration.

        Something like this.
