    M&P 40c question

So i recently purchased an m&P 40c. i know you can get the storm lake barrel and convert it to 9mm, but I watched a video of someone who installed a factory 9mm barrel from s&w and 9mm mags and it shot just fine. This was with a full sized and my question is does this apply to the compact as well?

I'd ask over at MP-Pistol it's a great group and the old timers really know M&Ps.

I run the stock barrel in my M&P 40c. Yes it works fine. Don't bother asking on MP-pistol forum cuz there are some real dicks over there. I have put a few hundred rounds through mine and had no problems. I run M&P 9 mags with it as well.

Ditto on the M-P pistols advice. One chump continues to preach that a range buddy blew up a converted M&P when he shot a severely over-pressured round (duh).

I bought a new factory 9mm barrel for my M&P 40 (full size) in November for $80 shipped (I wanted to buy from Midway for $67, but the date kept moving from December 2012 out to May 2013 and beyond), a pair of 9mm mags and 2 holsters for $75 shipped, a set of used Lee 9mm dies for $18, a Lee 6 cavity 356-120-TC mold and .356 sizer for $60 and the LnL AP #8 shell plate for $30. 9mm brass is about the most common brass sitting at the range other than 22LR so I've never paid for a single case.

500 rounds so far and no kabooms, perfect operation so far. I'm still flinching down, but at $0.05/shot, I can practice a lot!

Would MP40 be a more wise purchase than an MP9? I'm looking to pick one up soon.

i think it would depend on how likely you are to buy the barrel and extra magazines, and what caliber you really want, but it influenced me to get the 40 instead of the 9 because i only have to buy one gun for 2 different calibers or 3 if i decide to get a 357 sig barrel some day.
