How to get Non-CA Shield in CA

So, if I understand this correctly, my Mother can purchase a Shield in AZ, and then gift it to me. The transfer needing to take place through a FFL. Am I correct? She takes it to FFL in AZ, who then ships it to my FFL locally? Or can she ship directly to my FFL? Sorry if this is old hat to some.

Your only chance is a single shot exemption. The gun has to be modified to be single shot, then it can come in like you planned through FFL's. Once it is yours then you can modify it back.

Or if you can find one already in California and buy it as a private party transfer.

I thought that intra-family transfers were different. I could be wrong though, seems to be a trend.

OP is correct, it its perfectly legal via intra-familiar transfer. Your mom can ship it directly to the ca ffl of your choosing. Make sure to check around first though because a lot of shops don't know how to this type of transfer and also the shop can charge whatever they want to do it. Hopefully she can find one there they are hard to get anywhere for a decent price.

That's what I thought. If it's intra-family, it doesn't need to be on the roster. I love my Mom, but she can't make up her mind about the gun she wants. I hate to see her waste money.
