Ruger GP100 4.2" SS

Does anyone know if Ruger is planning to include this revolver for testing and approval here in Ca? The blued version says 4.19" and is approved and the .327 in 4.2" is approved but they only list the 4" barrel as allowed in SS and I can't find a new one in 4" anywhere.

I contacted Ruger via email and will call today but was wondering if anyone knew for sure while I patiently wait for Ruger's reply. Thanks

Called Ruger twice and no info available on my questions. Guess I will try the CA DOJ.

You can search google for the California Roster of Guns and find out what handguns are available currently to the California market. I am not sure what caliber of GP100 or I would check it for you. I will say that finding one in California right now is hard because of the demand. Also, some companies are selling to states that are still part of the USA because it is much easier. These days you need a relationship with a FFL that sells lots of guns to get on their "secret" list. Generally if they know one of their regular patrons is looking for a particular gun, then they hold the good ones back for them. Just the way capitalism works. This is really a so called "free" market these days.

KGP141 SS 4" (4" SS GP100) is on the CA approved handgun list

If you look at Rugers website the KGP141 that is on the CA. approved list called a 4" is the 4.2 your looking for. Unless you want a new one there are a couple in the for sale section.

So the 4 and 4.2 inch are considered the same by the DOJ? I have one (new 4.2") lined up to buy from out of state but am trying to confirm this is acceptable. Everyone at the DOJ seems to already be out to lunch since no one is answering the phone.

However, I just saw that on Ruger's spec sheet for the 1705 model (kgp-141. Some places have the catalog listed as KGP-141-C and the C is not on the DOJ list) that the 4 is ca approved and the 4.2 is not. Is this just not updated in their website? Has anyone successfully bought a 4.2" here in California?

I apologize for probably coming off like a nag, but there has been so much conflicting info I'm not yet clear on the issue and whether I should proceed with the out of state sale.

To the question of what caliber, its a .357.

If your having it shipped to your FFL you should check with them they would be able to tell you if they can do the transfer or not.

FFL dealer says 4.2 is not legal here (he just goes off the Ruger site) I called Ruger again and another guy answered and said the 4.0 length barrel is made exclusively for CA and MA and I need to order it through my dealer who will then check with the distributor. I didn't know that Ruger made a special CA run only.
