    Springfield XD vs GLOCK

Okay I love my Xds I just jailed a Xdm so I'm waiting to shoot that thing, but why is it that these aren't in high demand is it the overall look? Is it just the fact that glock has been around longer and it's more universal brand?
Trying to understand I've fired more and personally prefer a XD

Higher bore axis, made in Croatia, not been around as long, spare parts are much harder to get, inferior finish, not as good trigger reset, no factory super capacity mags, and less selection. Those are just off the top of my head. Don't get me wrong, I think the XD is a great platform and completely understand if some people prefer the XD over Glock. Both are great guns. But because of the reasons mentioned above I think some people prefer Glock.

The bulky slide and higher bore axis are the only faults I can really complain about on the XD. The grip is EXTREMELY comfortable in my hand and as a lefty I appreciate the ambi features. Glock is a very recognizable brand, even those who aren't really gun people have heard about Glock. Where did you pick up the XDM? If I get one I'd like to find the "M"

I think I would go with a Telecaster. The bolt on neck would be the strongest to deal with terrorist zombies. I know most folks will say Strat, but I think the trem system is unreliable.
I mean, who needs to dive bomb when SHTF? That only happens in movies.

I shot an xdm on Sunday and it bounces around much more that a glock... This is probably due to higher bore axis I suppose..
But I suppose ill sick with my glocks...

Congrats OP on the XDm. Another thread on XD vs Glock for you to enjoy

            My preference is G17 > XD9 > G19. Havn't shot the XDm though.

I like the grips on the XDs, but I shoot more accurately with Glocks. It's all about preference.

              Go figure.

Because it is the gun noobs who are causing prices to skyrocket, and they know "Glock" much more than they know "XD."

For the prospective of a shooter that reloads ammo, I'll try to steer away from Glock. I have seen what happen to a brass case after it's been in a Glock .40. You'll need to use a full length resizer to remove the famous Glock bulge.

If it were possible, I would like the result of a three-way between Ruger, Glock, and Springfield here.

The XD has a better grip (at least many prefer it, that is, of course, subjective), more weight (which for me, as a one handed shooter is good, makes it more controllable), many models come with factory night sights. Frankly the higer bore axis is offset by the weight, at least in my experience, so it becomes a more minor issue.

The down sides are a more finicky magwell (more common to not have them drop right out), a lot of take up in the trigger (it really is a toss up for me between Glock and regular XD triggers...I think the Glock has a slightly better reset, but the XD is smoother, but both are mushy), higher bore axis, and for some people the weight.

The Glock is a simpler design, easier to take apart if you ever need to do more than a field strip.

Frankly the Ruger SR compacts have the best triggers of the bunch (better than the full size SRs too), with almost no take up, crisp, tiny reset. It is almost like shooting my SA, and they are much better aesthetically if that is important to you. But harder to take down.

So I would like the aesthetics and trigger of the Ruger SR40c, the grip and weight and length of the XD-40sc, the slimness and lower bore axis of the Glock 27.

Oh, and at least among subcompacts, the XD does have a rail...that may be one plus for many

I reload for both of my glock .40s there is a slight bulge, but if you're feeding the reloads back through the same chamber there isn't an issue. Even though I have a redding grx die for the purpose of taking out that bulge, I find its not necessary. And my newer glocks have chambers that hardly bulge the brass if at all.
