Sig Scorpion 1911 Range Report

Today I took my new Sig Scorpion 1911 to the range and it sucked. Every first round of a magazine would FTF. I had three different magazines, the original Sigs, Wilson combat 8 rounders, Chip 10's, and they all did the same thing. I was using Walmart Federal .45. This ammo feeds and fires great in my XDM45. I also had some random failure to return to battery. I'm going to take it out again next week and try some different ammo. I hope I can get this thing to work reliably because it's so damn sexy, I really want to keep it.
And before anyone asks, yes I cleaned and lubed prior to shooting.

That sucks to hear. If you go to the 1911 addicts site, I bet those guys could tell you exactly what needs to be tweaked. Granted, you wish in a $1000+ pistol it wouldn't need tweaking, but they often do. I bet you can get it straight and into a sexy and reliable shooter without much at all invested, though. And of course, Sig will take it back and do warranty work if you prefer.

Try lubing it! Mine likes it a little wet. It also took 500+ rounds to loosen up. I shoot reloads only and the Sig has the tightest "Match" chamber in a 45 I've reloaded for.

I started with it lightly oiled, then after about 100rds I oiled it up good, but that didn't make any difference. I also tried, using the slide release, and the sling shot method and that didn't make a difference either.

Damn that sucks. I reload for the Scorpion and have no issues at all. As accurate as can be. Hopefully you'll get it figured out.

Well, only a couple things left to look at, feed ramp and breech face.
Might give it a light buff if they do not feel smooth.

Yeah I had similar issues with my Sig Extreme. It started as a fail to feed that evolved to a fail to completely return to battery. It would do this at least once, up to two to three times per magazine. It slowly got better within the first 300-350rds. I got fed up with the issue and contacted Sig. The issue was just a simple change of the recoil spring. The flat wire spring was cheesy and flimsy. Sig sent me a new "normal" recoil spring and all my issues were solved. It's been through 1200-1500 rounds since. Call up Sig and let us know the results.

Interesting, yeah my recoil spring is a flat wire spring too and it did feel like it wasn't strong enough. I will give them a call and see what they say.

I always change my 1911s recoil spring to Wolff or Wilson Combat

Should not have to tweak or replace anything. It should work right out of the box after lubricating it properly. I have seen videos on you tube complaining about the scorpion model 1911.

Mine had a break in period of about 300 rounds. Same thing, a FTF here and there, usually the first couple mags of the day. After the gun warmed up it would be fine. I think it's the Cerakote, it's just so damn tight from the factory. Also switched to Wilson ETMs. Haven't had a problem since.

OP that sucks! I pretty sure it something minor. Like mentioned above call SIG up it will work out at the end.
