Ruger P-85 9 mm, any thoughts

A friend has an opportunity to purchase a Ruger P-85 9mm for home defense. Does anyone have an opinion about this pistol?

It's a good gun. Not super flashy or sexy but built like a tank and built to last.

I've got a P-85MKII and these guns are built like tanks, I love mine have never had any problems and i've had it since 1991.

        Couldn't have said it better.

Hey 855R, we're neighbors. I'm in La Mesa as well. I'm going to go outback and shoot my AR into the air. Tell me if you can hear it.

It would make a fine HD pistol. Don't pay too much..maybe 300-350.

I have owned my Ruger P89 for 20+ years, no problems.

They work as reliably as any gun made.....

but the trigger sucks, no aftermarket support, not-upgradable

If it is truly for home defense, not a range toy, it should suit him just fine for $300
