    Take some pictures.

Which "extended" mag release? Glock's OEM one?

The Glock OEM one is just drop in replacement.

Strip the slide off the frame. Look down the frame. There you will see a small notch in the frame where a flat piece of wire is holding the mag release in with spring tension. Grab a flathead screwdriver, push the wire spring to the right and out in the notch in the mag release. Pull out you old slide release. The new one will only fit in only way. Pry the spring back so the new mag release will fit under the spring. Using the screwdriver again, move the spring to the right and back into the notch.

If you field strip the gun, look into the magwell from the top of the gun down. You'll see a straight spring locked into the mag catch. You'll need a thin flathead screwdriver to move the spring to the other side of the mag catch, where there will be a recess to allow the spring to come out. Once you find the recess and pop the spring free from the mag catch, the mag catch comes out and you can put the new extended mag catch in. Use the screwdriver to get the spring into the recess again, and that's it!

        Very easy.

Edit: Dang some of you guys type too fast!

Black Majik, that makes sense, just wasn't sure if a screw driver was the best tool for the job.

I use the Glock Armor tool personally.... but a screwdriver should work.

Yup. I have an old screwdriver used for my pagers (back in the high school days swapping out different cases ) that have worked exceptionally well for Glocks. It'll make swapping mag catches easily, lifting up locking blocks, as well as pushing down the striker to assemble the rear slide plate.
