45 question?

Seems I am having difficulties here trying to figure out this problem. My uncle says he remembers a 45 GCP? But he isnt sure. things it stands for goverment colt pistol? I know they got 45 ACP 45 GAP 45 Super. But Is there any other 45 variations?

im a huge .45 guy and have a lot but have never heard of .45 GCP....

I have had a lot of people confuse .45 GCP with GAP when they would come into the gun shop.

Ya, I told him that, but he seems very convinced that it wasnt GAP. haha

only other .45's i know of are the .45 colt ( i think some people call this long colt which is odd since there is no short colt ) and the .45 schofield or .45 smith and wesson but i think those are all revolver cartridges

I think back then when people said Government Colt Pistol, it was automatic to think it's a 1911 with the full grip, 5" barrel, and chambered in .45acp.

Maybe terms were used interchangeable back then.

No, long Colt is something else.
GAP is Glock auto pistol. That is as new as Glock.
.45 auto, auto Colt, and acp (Automatice Colt Pistol) is all the same thing.
Maybe, going back to the old days, they used other initials for acp. But it isn't still used anyplace I have seen.
