    blinking/strobing flashlight

A week or two a go I saw a small tac style flashlight that has strobing feature on it but did not catch the MFG name --- anyone have a clue as to where I can find a flashlight with this feature? It was on one of those outdoor channel shooting programs, it looked very effective.

Any of the standard Fenix lights will have this.

Bright as heck, reasonably priced, excellent quality.

Fenix has em on theirs, but they require two clicks to get to. High, then after another half-click, strobe.

How well does the strobing work on distracting someone?

Too bad the TK10 doesnt' have a strobe.

I believe it's more designed to cause people to feel an overwhelming urge to perform the Robot.

                    +1 for Fenix.

Seriously, I have retired all my Surefires and Maglights for my Fenix P3D Tacticals. Two 123 batteries gives you 240 Lumens for nearly 2 hours, and the program allows 3 other power levels for up to 10 hours of battery longevity. The strobe is fast enough to seriously mess up your equalibrium.....very disco There is also an automatic SOS mode that could signal high aircraft or search vessels.

Also have two P1D's which uses a single AA battery for over 100 lumens. These alone nearly match the Surefires. They also have all the same mode features as their big brothers.

Both models are no larger than a magic marker. As mentioned before, prices are 1/4 to 1/3 of any model of Surefire (except the G2).

                    www.fenixstore.com or
www.lighthound.com (fast shipping. . Army mail is a two week minimum, and we only get 2 supply planes a week at this FOB. I received an order here in Iraq, in less than 10 days)

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

There are lots of strobe models out there, with lots of variation on how they function. I think it's a bit silly, personally, but that's just me.

One of the problems I see is the interface - what's it take to get it into strobe mode, and are you really going to want to be clicking away on your flashlight while the S is hitting TF around you.

My little Fenix P2D takes a bezel twist and 2 clicks to make it strobe, if I leave it in normal flashlight mode (which I do). I'm not that happy with the ergonomics of this light either - it's slippery, the knurling is ineffective, the flats are strictly for appearance and don't keep it from rolling, and there's no lockout. It also doesn't let you do a tactical soft-push to get a momentary light, which I'm totally dependent on in tac lights - you have to click it on before you can do anything with it.

The other Fenix's may be better designed as tactical lights - this one's definitely not, but that may not be its target market. It's more of an EDC light with blinky features.

+1 Fenix needs to have alternate lights (yes, more models) that address this, or let them be programmable like some lights are doing..to tone things down to one or two uses instead of 6 modes. A soft momentary is probably the most important, even in a EDC, IMHO.

Not sure how well it works since I have not had the chance to play with one (strobe flashlight). When I saw the flashlight with the strobe feature demonstrated on the TV show it "looked" like a great distraction type feature for whomever it's pointed at. Never-the-less, I went ahead and went for the FENIX P3D $58 bones it's the larger one - it's not going to be mounted, just hand held.

Thank for all the tips....and the video of the pop-locking/robot dancing asian kid.

With regard to these flashlights that take the 123 Lithium battery.

Are the batteries made in a rechargeable type ?

I had never noticed rechargeable 123s, but then again I never looked.
