Honestly, there's not much to replace on the TM, but you might consider replacing the slide-stop, or possibly replacing the rear adjustable sight with one of Harrison's fixed sights.

Personally, I've always been partial to the older TM's in blue without the FCS.

I went with the Dawson FO front sight and Ahrend's Cocobolo Combat Magwell Cut grips.

I haven't done any upgrades to mine yet but have been looking at fiber optic front sights. Oh I did changed the grips to VZs

Or maybe do something about the front checkering. Super aggresive. On my second day of class at Frontsight I had a hard time getting a good grip because of the pain. 16hrs was too much using the TM.

Try fitting the Pearce PG1911-1 rubber front finger groove add-on (www.pearcegrip.com) your Springfield TM. It will cover up the agressive front frame grip checkering with resilient rubber finger grooves. There is no permanent alteration to your gun. The PG1911-1 allows you to retain the factory side grip panels and is a lot more comfortable on the hand than the front checkering!

yeah i don't know why they make it stand out so much and then do it at 20 lpi. i'd rather have it at 25 or 30lpi front (i still like 20 for the rear) and have it cut into the frame instead of sticking out over the front of the frame (ie more recessed).

I agree, thats also my biggest complaint on this gun is the super aggressive front checkering. After 50rds it started to get annoying. I was thinking of selling and looking for a Kimber Raptor. One of my favorites and highly under rated. I regret selling mines. My buddy who purchased it and is with the SFPD said it was like his 3k Wilson Combat but without the Wilson price tag.

It was pretty easy. Dawson ships their sights with a little punch that can be used to tap the old sight out and the new sight in.

I have two TMs (recently acquired another from a Calgun-ner). My first TM was the first modern 1911 I purchased. I have not changed anything on my first TM except for the stocks (went with a VZ DD black cherry) - just a little grippier than the factory wood stocks. I personally like the adjustable sights...mainly because they are similar to the adjustable target sights on the Colt GC NM S70s that I grew up shooting - just a familiarity thing.

For those complaining about the 20 lpi sharpness it can be reduced on a stainless pistol by using a hard Arkansas stone, or a file, or 600 grit emory cloth or sandpaper to take off the tips of the points. Be sure to go slow as you can't put metal back (easily) and if your not comfortable with your technique see a gunsmith!

I love the 20lpi on my Pro but I think the points are knocked down a bit while prepping it for the black T finish.
