    Kimber Ultra CDP II

So after a year of searching here, Snipershide, GunBroker, GunsAmerica and retail gun stores, I still couldn't find a good deal on any Kimber Ultra CDPs.
After adding shipping and the cost of a non-PPT transfer at my FFL, no internet deals were worth it either.
Clearly people like them because used ones almost never come up and when they do they're nearly retail price!

So I finally broke down and bought one anyway ($1099)! These next 11 days are going to suck!
I'll post pics when I get it, now I'm off to take photos of guns I need to sell to pay for this one!

Yup, their great, have one myself. That is now my favorite CCW. For a 3" barrel, it is dead on accurate. Welcome to the 1911 club.

Do a range report sometime after 500 rounds. I have heard so many horror stories on the short Kimbers I have shyed away myself. Every one I have seen at the range seems to run great. You must post picts as well!!

Congrats on finally getting one! Finding a Ultra CDP for under 1000 is very very hard. I picked up mine a while ago at Turners when they decided not to carry them anymore, and that was only a 15% savings.

great gun, I have 2, CDP II pro (4") and CDP I compact. The pro is my favorite, even with the addiontional safety feature... go figure...

My Ultra CDP II is my primary carry. Over 1500 rounds through it and no FTF, FTE, etc. It's been flawless. AND mine has the external extractor!

Honestly though, the Kel-Tec PF-9 is so small I often just take it. The Kimber is a much better pistol (and caliber) though.

The only thing I want to change (and I don't even have it yet ) is to get some Kimber Ultra Raptor Grips for it, I just love those grips!
Anybody know where I can find them?

Picked it up today and started the break-in with 150 rounds of 230 FMJ ball ammo!
Shoots like a dream, very accurate for a 3" barrel. Overall very satisfied!

I have mixed feelings about this gun. I hear both good and bad but want one that I have complete confidence in.

I am having trouble deciding between this, PM9, P99c, or HK P7 for my first.

Are these able to be pocket carried or only IWB,OWB, and something like smartcarry?

I roll with a Compact CDP or Compact Stainless. In 2007 I participated in a Suarez International course. The guy next to me had an Ultra Compact CDP. He had zero malfs, and was spot on while shooting on the move. We shot a shet load of rounds during 2 days of drills. I would have absolutely no apprehension about carrying an Ultra after it was broken in.

I'd say it's a little large for a pants pocket carry.
                          Easily IWB, OWB or Ankle.
