    Just ordered - S&W Model 60

Yes it has the ILS...but this will be the first wheel gun in the safe. Should be a nice carry. I'm more excited about this than I have been for a new purchase in awhile!

    $699 + DROS

by the way, does anyone in the world have a lower that will fit a KAC SR25 upper???

Congrats. I have the shorter version. It's a nice little revolver. I'm sure it won't be your last. Revolvers are fun.

I noticed that some of the older Smith models are available for sale.. I thought they quit making some of them - like the 586 and the 60. I love the wheelguns but just got interested in them, so don't know the history...

            Love the J frame 38's

My model 60 3in. is one of 2 J frame .38 I use often as a CCW, I also carry a model 37 Airweight. They are very concealable, accurate and reliable.

I really like those grips on the Model 60 Pro.

I added the fiber optic front and v notch rear sights as well as the ILS plug and Pachmayer's to my 60 3in..

i got a 686+ as a birthday gift from my wife a few years back,
since then i was hooked on wheel guns. Although i still own more
              auto pistols then revolvers.

congrats on your new acquisition. i'm partial to early variants of current production firearms. i have an older (1979) Model 60 2" (1.875") that i would never part with.

The Mod. 60 has been around forever (1964 if I recall) and is still in production albeit with considerable change from the original. I had a 1967 vintage gun for a while in the 70's, had it stolen and replaced with a new gun in 1982. Carried and shot it alot since then and you can't kill it with a stick as far as I can tell.

An all-steel 3" J-frame is probably the best civilian concealment option for most folks. Almost as easy to carry as a 2" gun, far easier to control, as reliable as any piece of machinery can be and as easy to use as a weapon can get. No, you can't take on a horde of jihadists, but very very few CCW situations really need more than 5 shots.

Please post a review when you break them out. I'm going to be purchasing either the Model 60 pro or the Model 36 Classic series in a couple of weeks, and would like to hear your experiences.

Whichever one I buy will be used as a carry gun for when I move at the end of the year when my military obligation is over. I'd likely carry .38+P in the Model 60, so .357/.38 vs .38 only is not much of a concern.

What are some good black grips for the 60? Something for the recoil. Supposedly the grips on the 60 Pro are very nice but I like the way black looks.

Also... the Safariland speed loaders are the recommended ones?

                              grips

Both Hogue and Pachmayer make grips for the S&W round but J-frames like the model 60. The Compact grips are great for concealment the Gripper model is better for re-coil.

Safariland and HKS have the 5 shot speedloaders. Personally I like the HKS better but have used both.
