    New pistol target setup

I wanted to try out steel targets, so I ordered a couple of 8 inch rounds. I hung them on shepherds hooks, and started plinking with my Glock 19. The immediate feedback is nice, and with a fresh coat of spray paint you have a new target. The setup only cost about $80.00. Thanks for checking it out.

Nice set-up Bosco... What type of steel are you using?

I basically use the same set up, with an 8" round of 3/8" AR500. Only differance is I welded a piece of 1" angle iron to the front of the verticle section of the shepards hook. It provides some strength & protection. The AR500 plate has taken thousands of hits, from .22lr, .38, .357. & .45. and hardley even looks used.

Where do you get shepherds hooks? I need something better for my 11'' 3/8" AR500 round steel I have a stand but I allow anyone at the range to shoot it and the chines keep getting blown out.

        Shooting steel is a blast....

But according to firearms rule #3 or 4: Be aware of your target and what is behind it. Don't mean to sound like a jerk, but that's a beautiful tree behind your targets. Iffin you shoot there a bunch, you will probably end up cutting that tree down. I'm starting to see the forest behind a local public shooting range become slowly gunned down.

Yes, the same. 3/8" AR 500, bought from Shoot Steel. I can see where they are going to last a long time. I got the shepherds hooks at Home Depot. I bought the heavy duty ones, and had to grind down the area behind the tip to fit the rounds through. They have smaller ones if you don't have a grinder. I can see myself buying more of different sizes in the future.

Good point R. Mac. I don't want to kill the tree. It is not going to be my permanent place to shoot. You can't see in the picture, but it is downhill with a 1000 foot hill directly behind. I'll find a better place with no chance of creating any tree carnage. I appreciate the sound advise.

Haha! I've been known to miss from time to time.
