    Ruger single actions in CA

    Hello, all!

New here on Calguns and reside in the Bay Area. I hope I'm posting in the correct place. Can single action revolver be brought into CA if not listed on CA roster? I read (I believe on the Ruger site) that they're exempt from the restrictions here. Spoke to a few local FFLS and some say yes and some say no. Is the a specific source to get the proper and correct answer? Thanks for any information or input you have to offer!

Almost. I believe all Ruger single actions are exempt. There are single action revolvers still subject to the roster...

Dimensionally compliant single-action revolvers are exempt from needing to be on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale.

So, as long as the revolver has a minimum capacity of 5 rounds and a barrel length of 3" or greater and an overall length of 7.5" or greater, it is exempt from needing to be on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale.

          FYI.
On 01-01-2012, Penal Codes regarding "dangerous weapons" were reorganized.
Penal Code 12133 was changed into Penal Code 32100.

          Penal Code 32100
          (a) Article 4 (commencing with Section 31900) and Article 5 (commencing with Section 32000) shall not apply to a single-action revolver that has at least a five-cartridge capacity with a barrel length of not less than three inches, and meets any of the following specifications:
          (1) Was originally manufactured prior to 1900 and is a curio or relic, as defined in Section 478.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
          (2) Has an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at least seven and one-half inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled.
          (3) Has an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at least seven and one-half inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled and that is currently approved for importation into the United States pursuant to the provisions of paragraph (3) of subsection (d) of Section 925 of Title 18 of the United States Code.

Well then, go out and thank all those "pro-gun" groups that helped pass it.

The "unsafe handgun" laws are an example of what happens when gun owners do not stand together and only look out for their own self-interests.

When the "unsafe handgun" legislation was working it's way through the legislature, several "pro-gun" groups opposed it. But once they were able to sell themselves for an exemption, they switched from opposing it to supporting it.

              Example...
The single-action revolver exemption was the work of several "pro-gun" cowboy action shooting groups that sold their support to obtain it.
