    Trade not sell-Why

Why would somebody try to trade a handgun and not want cash? I have seen some people here that refuse to take cash. Why would you possibly want to not take cash? Is there some secret im missing out on? Is this the right area to post this?

Some people have all the money they need. With how depleted inventory is right now, cash doesn't get you a new toy, trades do.

Guns are worth much more than money to most folks on this site. We wont give up our guns for anything other than more guns.

Plus maybe some people here are thinking that if they put that cash in their safe, it will only get less and less valueable, where a gun would possibly get mroe valueable.

Atleast a gun can gain personal value. I am not one to clean my money when it gets dirty and take it all out for a day in the desert with my buddies and family.

        you??

'cause i want to. simply that. it's just one less step. i have a sig p220 and i want a glock 21sf. if they are the opposite then let's make it happen and i get to save a couple steps.

yeah, i have the money to go buy a 21sf if i wanted right now, but i'd rather work the equity in my sig into something new that shoots the same round and still have the same number of guns in the safe.
Competition is where you find out you're slow, can't see well, are not accurate, have poor gun handling, can't visualize, have equipment that doesn't work and either accept it OR DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

My wife had a rule years ago in our house. "Sell a gun; Buy a gun". Guess with the low supply lately buying may be a problem.

It's a lot more difficult for my wife to spend guns than cash.

I dunno even before this buying craze many people only want to trade guns. .. . .. personally I never got it.

Finding 2 people that are each looking for each others gun, takes awhile. Why not flip for cash and buy the gun you want within days rather than waiting for that 'right trade'. Maybe thats the fun part of the game.

with the value of the dollar going into the dumps, toys are more valuable. There is a REAL reason Right now why Rich wealthy folks are hording up GOLD instead of dollars. The gooberment has also been hording up GOLD as well. Maybe their just nuts and needs to put on the TInfoiL.........But More than likely they already know what's going to happen in the near future that's why they've been stocking up on gold.

The basic idea is you are getting something you want and vice versa. OR you are getting something new and vice versa.

I think beyond that there is a certain community feel to it.

Trading helps both buyer and seller avoid taking a depreciation hit.

I'll admit I'm guilty of this out of hope that someone will give me a crazy deal cause what I have is exactly what he wants. If I put down a cash price, someone will just give me that and it's over, no hope for something better. Plus if I put down a price I would love to get, I'd probably be called a gouger. Even if I can't use what he gave me, at least I can sell it for more than I would have gotten cash for my gun originally.
