    CZ 75 SP-01 Finally!!!

Finally broke my CZ 75 SP-01 out of jail!!! PPT from a fellow Calgunner! Was in pretty good condition - gave it a good cleaning. Couple of observations and questions for fellow CZ owners:

-Front Tritium Sight doesn't glow, Rear sights work. Is it relative easy to replace the front sight on your own? Any recommendations?

-The stock plastic guide rod seemed very flimsy and wobbly - is that normal for original guide rod? I think I will replace it w/ a steel one - any recommendations?

-When I got it, it was extremely greasy/wet. Are CZ's suppose to run wet??

-A bit of trigger creep - is that normal? Will it break-in over time? Prior owner had 150 rounds through it.

It's been a good month so far - SP-01 today, Glock 19 Gen4 last week, and S&W 1911 Pro Series a few weeks ago.

Man, you guys were right when I first joined - no cure for my gun affliction. Need to take a rest, enjoy the guns I have and shoot the heck out of them!!! I think I'll get sign up for some private training to get better!!

1, Yes, there is a pin holding it in, pop it out and punch the sight out.
    2. leave the damn thing alone.
    3. they dont need to be "wet", but they need to be lubed
    4. in SA or in DA? Either way, without trigger work its going to stay there.

Bummer on the front sight, no idea how easy they are to replace, but I think its pretty straightforward. I wouldn't worry about the guide rod. If you notice how the spring rides in the pistol you'll see that the guiderod only really serves to keep the spring in place during install. CZs can run wet, but they shouldn't be dripping. I'd spray it out with some canned air if you think its excessive.

Congrats on a great pistol. My CZ is the best pointing gun I've ever held. Pretty much everyone who handles\fires mine starts lusting after one of their own...too bad they're so hard to find especially now.

        It's broken.

        Sell it to me.

        WTB used AK MFER.

Replacing of the front sight requires drilling of the new sight (for the pin to hold it in place)

Interestingly eough, my SP-01 front sight "burnt" out also. I emailed CZ and they gave me a replacement one for free. I took a picture of the SN# to show them what year it was produced and had no questions.

NO need for a metal guide rod. It just adds weight.

I just lube the slide and I put a VERY light dab of frog lube on the outside of the barrel where it comes in contact with the frame. I do not lube the firing pin chamber and i keep the sear/hammer area as dry as possible.

I did a trigger/hammer job on my SP-01 and P-01. See signature for more details. Its night and day. Crisp let off, reduced trigger pull, and smother action.

You can go with a SS guide rod from CZ custom. I have one in my Tac Sport and Phantom without issue.

Modding the trigger will make a world of difference! Do ettttttt!

There are a few mods that I find are MUST haves and some are optional for the regular SP01 and SP01 Shadow
                        Must haves/do's:
                        - Lighter 11lb recoil spring
                        - Lighter 13lb mainspring

                        Optional
                        - The Shadow version comes standard with fiber optic sights. For your SP01 fiber is a must have upgrade. Personally I find regular fiber sights to be easier to use than tritiums. CZ custom has a bunch of sights to choose from. For the SP01, the 1mm tall sight will match your factory rear sights.
This mod is not difficult. Just punch out the pin running left to right. Lightly tap the sight toward the front. Tap in the new sight, use the correct drill bit from czcustom, then tap in the sight pin.
                        czcustom.com/CZ-Fiber-Optic-Front-Sight-6.5mm-with-1.0mm.aspx

                        - The stainless steel guide rod adds a bit of weight to the front of the gun which helps with muzzle flip and recovery for follow up shots. The fit is slightly tight when installing and removing for field stripping.

                        - Extended firing pin and lighter firing pin. From cajungunworks com . If you want to keep the firing pin safety then you'll need to get the version with the extra notch. If you're not using the gun for carry, then remove all firing pin safety related parts. It'll make the trigger pull lighter and smoother.

                        - Thin aluminum grips. If your have smaller hands then this is a great mod. Also from czcustom

                        - If you're not using your gun in USPSA competition, then consider the reduced reach trigger from cajungunworks com
