    XD 40 subcompact

I am looking for suggestions for my XD 40 subcompact.

    1. Best way to carry it. IWB, shoulder, etc? And good makes of holsters

    2. Install night sights, or go for a crimson trace/lasermax?

    3. Carry it with the 10 (or hopefully 12, I may not be in CA longer) mag, or the 9?

    Crossbreed super tuck

Night sights. Trijicon HD's are nice, but sharp edges. I like Truglo TFO's.

9 rd with a Pearce Pinky extension.

One disadvantage I have heard (alleged) about night sights is that they are harder to use in the daytime than regular sights. I couldn't figure out why that would be.

I tried an LC9 with lasermax, and liked it and they worked very well. But has a laserlyte on my SW9VE and it was ****ty as hell. Certainly would never go with a laser that replaces the standard sights again.

The Trijicon's are $40 cheaper than the Truglo it appears. Is the only real difference sharp edges, or do the Tuglo have other advantages

I was thinking the only issue would be comfort while carrying, with the 12rd (or 10 California legal) being longer. If I were to put a pinky extension on with a 9 rd mag, why not just have the 10/12rd and have the extra ammo? I am just curious as to what the drawbacks would be

Though I certainly like the idea of the pinky extension...shoot better with a better grip.

The HD's and TFO's are great in the day time. The TFO's have the fiber optic component and really excell. The HD's are more rugged.

Concelability. I have found the grip is the greatest challenge to conceal. Sure, you can have the larger magazine capacity, but you might as well get a full sized XD40. The Pearce grip really makes a difference to provide the extra grip support and still keep the grip low profile.

My Sig has night sights. They are harder to see in daytime also. The radioactive material in the dots is just not bright white. First and last night sights for me. Of course for a home gun, the night sights are probably a good idea, or if you shoot in low light conditions.

            Again, HD's or TFO'S.

            Check them out.

I use the crossbreed super tuk for my sub compact.
I also had the standard Trijicon night sights installed. If I had to do it over,I'd go Tru-Glow. The Tirijicons are not very good in the daylight.

So it sounds as if the Tru-glos are good all day and night, whereas other brands might sacrifice some at day?

                Thanks for all the suggestions!

I actually carried my Xd40sc for about a year. I'm selling it now because i want to get out of 40 cal. I had a 9mm conversion as well. I just carried in a IWB cheapy holster, but leather. Worked out fine but the slide is kind of bulky for a EDC. Worked for me, but i decided to go back to 9mm and 45acp. So it's either my pm9 or p45 that will be carried.

I also used the 9rd sub compact mag with peace picky extention.
