    1911 dovetail cuts

I was wondering of places to get my slide milled for novak style sights? I have a ria gi. I was hoping for short turn around time. I live in sac and found a place here the said 75 per cut and 35 to install the sites. I'm new to gun but not machining sounded a little high?

That's the thing about the GI model. At least with the 'Tac you'll probably replace the sights but at least the cuts in the slide are mostly there; I say mostly because they're not TRUE Novak cuts and there will be some smithing involved to get new ones ine.

Keep shopping around for estimates, 'OP. Honestly, don't let the RIA haters discourage you from enjoying and 'modding your 1911. You can do the sight work and still come in under what everyone else paid for their 1911 which is what TRULY bothers the RIA haters...

I only want to cut because I got a deal on some sights. 40 for sights and skeletonized hammer.

False. What TRULY bothers the RIA haters is the giant billboard on the left of the gun.

              That sounds about right.

It is their shop rate. A hour to set up and make each cut; flat rate to install the sights

I can get a dirtbike head cleaned seats cut and valve guides installed for a little over a 100. That has to be more labor involved then 2 cuts and a sight install

Gunsmithing is expensive, particularly good gunsmithing (and often times bad gunsmithing).

What you were quoted is around or about the price-point for the work you want to have completed. The turn-around time will depend on the Pistolsmith you commision to complete the work.
