    Wilson's new ADP

Anyone check one of these out? J&J Armory had a couple at the Costa Mesa show this weekend. Quite a handly little subcompact pistol! Aside from the grip being fugly as Rosie's bare butt, the gun was very comfortable to handle and thin. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to dryfire it since the gun was zip-tied but from what I gathered it was a DA/SA pistol.

I was mainly surprised the gun uses a double stack magazine for how thin the gun felt. It has a lot of potential to beat the G26, XDsc, M&P, P2Ksk in terms of concealability with same magazine capacity.

Lastly, the biggest fault was the location of the decocker/safety. It was located right above the magazine release. Bad place to stick a decocker IMO. Not a bad price either for a WC pistol at $650'ish.

The one I've seen and handled was not impressive. It is a great way to get the least for your money.

If you want polymer, get a Glock. It is more reliable, easier to find mags, etc.

It's one of the ugliest guns I've ever seen... it makes the XD look good, and I HATE the way the XD looks!

I wouldn't trust it. It's an ugly, new, unproven design and it's ugly. Did I mention that it's ugly?

LOL, hey we all like Glocks and they're ugly too. I don't think I'll buy one, I just liked the way they felt. But yeah, too new to trust one just yet.

Seen, held, and dry-fired it at the SHOT SHOW this year... It has a very "interesting" trigger feel, and by "interesting" I mean "bad". Those who complain about Glock triggers will have a field day with this one. The Wilson rep I spoke to was trying to sell me on how good the trigger felt but I didn't buy into it, but the rest of the gun was handy and fit my medium sized hands well. I won't be spending the kind of money they want for one... I'll stick with my Glock.

                    Had one - too fugly

Bought one a year ago direct from Wilson's
Got it and after reading the care section of the manual and learning that the suggestion is to clean the gas tube every 50 rounds, and the fact that the trigger was spongy and the grip had - like an old wood toy 2x4 gun feel - I called them to see if i could return, and Yes, for a restocking fee. I never fired it so they took it back. I bought it based on the sales ad on Wilson's. (pig in a poke)
I didn't like it so much that I payed 185 just to hold it for a few hours and well "fugly" is a great word. Even at closing time this wasn't going to get pretty enough to try on.
Interesting concept using the gas tube with about a .04" pin-hole bleed.
After sending it back - I wonder if I could have wrmed up to 'er after a range trip.
                    Nooo Way -
In fact the entire family siad things like - "that's a gun?" "What a p-o-crap- Did you get drunk and buy this?" "Dad that is like - well what were you thinking?"
This design was attempted via another manufacture 9-11 years ago with little gain at that time too.

A friend bought one last year. Worst gun I've ever shot. Feels ugly and kicks worse than a J Frame .357. He's got it for sale if anyone is interested.

I had one in the late 80s early 90s. Mine was from South Africa, where they were originally made as the "ADP." I beleive that they were later marketed as the "STEALTH" before Wilson began importing them.

The best way to describe it is as a cross between a Glock (striker fired) and an HK P7 (gas tube plunger gas system). Mine came with 2, 12 round mags and the magazine release was on the butt of the gun.

The gun did kick more than a Glock 26 and the trigger was VERY spongy. I never liked the idea of the safety being placed above the trigger (it is not a decocker) and cleaning the gas tube every 50 rounds was a pain.

Funny thing. I was at Turners a few weeks back looking for another compact 9mm and the sales guy really pushed the Wilson. Thanks, but no thanks.
