    Springfield MC Operator Issues

Anyone here own an MC operator? I have one that had the "reliability work" done to it and it jams fairly regularly on CCI 45. I get FTFs and it looks like the rounds are getting jammed on the ramp. I understand it could be the ammo as CCI isn't always the best but WWB and some federal jam on it as well. I have a Les Baer TRS and that gun is picky as hell and it shoots CCI and WWB just fine.

Anyone here with an MC operator or Springfield 1911 that has a similar experience?

Have you test the gun with known realible magazines to rule out magazine related problems? Then if the problem persist then go back to whoever preformed the realibility job.

Same here. I haven't found anything it hasn't eaten reliably, and mine is bone stock also.

What is this "reliability work" and who performed it?

My MCO ate everything... I use Wilson, McC or Tripp magazines. My OEM magazines were junk and never feed the MCO correctly.

I have tested it with different makes of magazines, i have Baer and Nighthawk mags with the WWB it seems to produce the least issues.

Springfield armory did the work along with several other things like checkering the front strap and re-blueing it. I may just need to send it back to Springfield =(

I have one and it's the most reliable production gun I've owned. Keep trying diff mags.

I have owned 3 Springfields (Loaded, EMP, and MC Operator). All three went back to springfield. The Loaded wouldn't always go into battery or feed reliability, the EMP wouldn't feed hollow points for sh#t and the MCO had a tritium vial fall out.

I'd call springfield...especially since they did the "reliability work". They will likely tell you to try it with American Eagle ammo and let them know how it goes. If you can use two or three different kinds of magazines and repeat the problem then you know it is the gun, and Springfield will take care of it.

Everytime I sent a gun back to them it came back to me in no more than 10 days, door to door. Call them see what they say...just my .02

^^^ what Sennasixty8 says. I have never had a single FTF/FTE with my MC Operator. I mostly use the Chip McCormick Power Mags, but it should even work fine with the OEM mags.

wow only 10 days, I would imagine it's much worse now. It seems like every firearm mfr out there has a message about how busy they are and that it will take several days to get back to you. I will pick up some wilson mags (if they are available). I love the gun as it allowed me to safe queen my Baer TRS but it is annoying that it jams so often.

Right now their wait time is supposed to be 2-4 weeks. I sent mine back either last week or the week before and still haven't heard anything yet.

Is the case rim underneath the extractor hook when it jams, or below it? They may have set the extractor tension too tight.

With the slide removed, slide a loaded round up the breachface into the firing position. The extractor should hold the case if you turn the slide upside down or lightly shake the slide but should release with more vigorous shaking. If too tight withdraw the extractor halfway out of its tunnel and bend it a bit to remove some case tension and retest till satisfied.

While its not always the answer, many 1911's that exhibit magazine and ammo sensitivity have this problem. I'd suggest checking your Les Baer also.

Extractor tension too tight=failure to feed. Extractor tension too loose=failure to extract/stovepipe.

The EMP was actually Monday to Monday but, who knows now.

I took pictures of the problem with the loaded and sent them to the customer service representative and sent it with the gun. I know I don't speak and type good nuff so why not show them.

redcliff is right if it's not the mags or ammo the most common problem is the extractor tension.

Thanks guys, the round looks like its getting caught in the ramp. The round looks like its pushed in when i pulled it out and compare it to another. I ll check the extractor tension.
