loading issues firing mp9c for the first time

i fired my mp9c for the first time this weekend and it kept jamming in the beginning. maybe through the first 40 rounds it jammed like 4 times. once per magazine. then it stopped the rest of the way. is this possibly cuz of the magazine spring? i heard they had some issues. also loading the magazine initially i had to slam the damn thing into the gun. it got easier as it went on though.

My M&P 9c mags ae super tight too and I can hardly get them in if the slide is in battery. But no jams whatsoever. If you are in NorCal I can take a look and we can compare mine and yours. Is yours new? What kind of ammo?

Mine gets some occasional failures to go into battery when shooting 115 grain FMJ ammo. I can't recall it ever happening with 124 grain, but I don't have all that much 124 grain ammo to test it with. I think it's likely the combination of me limp-wristing a tiny bit with the use of slightly underpowered 115gr ammo, though you'd think that with 115gr ammo I wouldn't be limp wristing...

Have you tried it with more than one magazine? I ask because you need to isolate the problem. Is the problem with every mag or just one? If it's with more than one magazine I'd call S&W and get them to fix it. If it's just one magazine get them to replace it. S&W has amazing customer service.

ya i thought of that. at the time i took only one mag. so next time i go im gonna take both and see if it happens with the unused mag again.

My M&P 9c mags were really tight too when I first got them. Even after leaving the mag loaded for a week, I would have to slam the mag in (on a closed slide) to get the mag to seat properly.

M&P pistols and mags can be incredibly stiff when new. They break in nicely after 1K rounds or so. I would chalk your issues up to ammo, magazines, or human error. The pistol design itself is extremely reliable.

When you test fire again, try the gun:

1. with only 9 rounds in the magazine
2. loading the mag into the gun only with the slide back.

Note if the Failure to Feed is in any particular place in the cartridge column
