    PPT Question about the mag

I've done a few PPTs before but never thought about this issue. I understand the FFL needs to keep one mag with the gun, but does the law say it needs to be a 10 round mag? I haven't even noticed if the person doing the paperwork checks this.

    Thanks

Since you cannot sell mags over 10 rounds, it should be a functional magazine that holds 10 rounds or less.

Why does the FFL needs to keep one mag for the gun during the 10 days cooling period? Is it a store policy because it's never required for all of my PPT or new gun transaction.

Interesting...I'm not actually sure why. The Turners in Pasadena has always held one mag with the pistol and only allowed me to take home the extra mags. Perhaps the solution is to just bring the pistol into the store with no mags. Can anyone else clarify?

Turners & some ffl's require one ten-round magazine to be kept with the gun in order to do the handgun safety demonstration. I recently did a PPT with no magazines and the ffl I went to was OK with it. They had me do the handgun safety demonstration on a similar handgun to the one I was buying.

Great info. Sounds like I need to talk with my local Turners and see if they have a problem with no mags and I can demo on a similar gun.

This isn't legal unless the gun is the exact same model.

                    It says "that handgun".

                    Could be clearer.
