    Gloves

Anyone use gloves when you go to the range?

I went to the range with my grandpa recently and he used a pair of Craftsmen gloves. He says it helps keep a grip because his hands get very sweaty.

I had someone tell me to never use gloves as it is bad practice.

What are your opinions? Gloves, yes or no?

A grandmaster in competitive shooting told me that gloves are for wussies.

In a tactical situation, they might help with grip, if your hands get bloody, etc.

I'd say shoot both with and without. Mechanix used to be recommended, but now I think another brand is gaining popularity.

I use gloves when I shoot outdoor range... However, I do practice shooting with and without gloves also.

More realistically, if you're shooting in very cold temperatures or under the sun on a hot day, the metal of your gun can either get extremely cold or extremely hot.

I use a pair of gloves when shooting outdoors when its cold. Otherwise I don't really see a need to wear them as they seem cumbersome and I don't notice any difference in grip. In fact my gloves may make my hands sweaty

Ive shot with gloves on when it was cold out but mostly shoot without.

For me shooting with gloves is a little hard with compact pistols

I've trained with gloves, because I wore gloves when carrying. Otherwise no real reason to other than your hands are cold.

If you carry while wearing gloves, you should absolutely practice with gloves.

Depends on the firearm. I don't typically shoot a .380 sub compact with gloves for example. I've gotten a couple scratches on my hands from my Saiga 12 and maybe one other firearm, so with long guns I often wear them.

The only shooters that wear gloves are the bangers in the hood that need to wear them. Its so their fingerprints dont show up on their illegal guns because their fingerprints are already on file in goverment databases. Not that I would know I just went to a high school that had alot of students bussed in from the ghetto.

I have a pair of the Hatch police gloves NS 550 or something like that. Haven't tried it at the range yet. Didn't like the index finger too much. The tip stuck out too much. But, depending on how much colder things get, I may give it a try.

Another thing you may want to try are the thin nike running gloves. My wife got a pair and they seem like they might work.

depends on the gun, and whether it is cold out. i load some pretty hot rounds for my old vaquero 45colt, and a glove is nice when shooting it,

I usually shoot w/o but occasionally shoot w/.

Im a big fan of these:

They are thin, fit tight like latex gloves, increase friction and dont make my hands sweat.

I use gloves when I shoot trap. I use to use padded Past shooting gloves when I shot a lot of heavy large caliber handguns. Guess you can damage a nerve in your hand if you shoot a lot of .44 mag. They have pads in the palm at strategic points

I don't use gloves but I'm sure in some cases you would need them.
