Difficulty finding M&P9 : Socal, North OC area

Long time lurker, first time poster.. I apologize for any etiquette missed. I'm currently not a firearm owner but have been interested for many years, and have spend the past 18 months or so doing quite a bit of research. I've handled guns for awhile, and shot with friends and family as well. Finally going to take the plunge and invest some money into my own.

After research, trying in my hands and firing I've decided on a full size M&P9. Problem is, I cannot find these anywhere! I'm not sure if my timing is just terrible because of the heightened gun control discussion nation-wide driving up sales, but I"m striking out everywhere I go. Matter of fact, just about every gun store I've visited has a damn line with people taking numbers. My father in law is telling me this isn't normal. Every store I've visited has table scraps and nothing I"m interested in.

This past weekend I visited Turners, Fowlers, Annex in Orange, CA and Bass Pro in Ontario.. nothing, well nothing but long lines. I suppose I know very little when it comes to gun stock and resupply to retailers. Is this normal? I asked staff at each location and their answers were pretty much the same, "We get stock all the time, and as soon as the M&Ps arrive they sell within a day."

Any advice from some seasoned shoppers? I'd prefer picking up at a retail store, because I still have to take the gun cert exam and would prefer doing everything in one swoop. However I am open to opinions and options if it will speed up the process. And lastly, does anyone know of any stores in the north Orange County area that has stock for these types of guns?

Everything is pretty much gone. Most popular pistols are hard to find. If I were you, get you HSC as soon as you can. That way, if an M&P9 pops up, you don't have to worry about taking the exam, you'd already have it. Other then that, just keep calling and/or look here at the classified section.

    Btw, Welcome!

Congradulations on your decision. I would not hesitate in taking your HSC and getting that out if the way. It's good for 5 years. You still need one if you do change your mind and order online.

Ammo Brothers in Cerritos had an M&P9 on their shelf when I was there on Saturday morning. Give them a call and see if they still have it on their shelf.

I totally forgot about this location, they are right near my place. I will give them a ring today, and also check out the Cerritos location mentioned as well.

                Thanks much
