    Help me pick between a P226 or P228

    Okay, so I pretty much have my shooters ... now looking to collect a few safe queens or as my son puts it "Grail guns".

    There are a few firearms I already have in mind, but I'm also stuck between either a .40 P226 Dark Elite or a P228. If you had to choose one ... which would you go with and why?

    For me, a P228. I prefer the older W.German/German versions, not the newer version (M11-A1). Here's mine. Not a safe queen though.

        I would go with the 228. My 229 shoots great so the extra barrel length is just extra weight as far as I'm concerned. Especially here In Cali where you can't even get the capacity advantage of the slightly bigger gun.

          Between the two I would get the 228, esp since you stated you are now inti collecting. Go for a German non railed one. They are both fantastic shooters, the 228 just being a bit rarer and more appealing to collectors.
          Good luck. I think there are a couple FS in the marketplace.

              Get the 228 while you still can. Haven't seen the 228 on the Sig Sauer site in years. I'm surprised there's still a 228 on the Roster. Got my 228 and 228R years ago. Definitely keepers and great shooters.

              Sig .40s aren't 'Grail Guns.'

                  P228 was pulling ahead and then you got to post this

                  If Sig still made the P220 Dark Elite with the same size beavertail as your P226, I wouldn't be in this mess ...

                        P228. it will be a German made carbon steel slide and the P228 is just harder to find. You can always get a P226 later and I highly recommend getting a example that was made in Germany if you want care free ownership. I also own a couple P226's (preimere 9mm Service Pistol) and three P220's.

                        My two P228's;

                            I Picked up both of these within the last three weeks for +/- $700. Its not the $$$ so much as finding one and jumping on it. I have my two and I'm done unless I come across a LNIB "MADE IN W.GERMANY" with all the goodies.
