    1911 experts please

I have a sig railed 1911 and a nighthawk GRP recon with surefire x300.

    I need a dropleg holster. I bought a safarilad for 1911 railed with x300.

They don't fit. I know the Sigs are unique but assumed the GRP should be standard...

Safariland says holster is designed to fit Kimber tle rl or Gold cup rl.

I figured these are all the same "style". What am I missing??

    Thank you!!!

I believe sig is different. You might need to get custom made..
I am not a big fan of thigh holsters. They are not that comfortable as you believe to be.

He already bought the holster, telling him why a thigh rig may not work for him does not help the situation.

OP. Your Sig definitely won't fit, that's a given as their slide profile is unique. Your Nighthawk not fitting is interesting, as their frame style isn't very proprietary. They spec very similar to Springfield railed frames (like mine) and mine fits into a 6004 meant for a 1911 Railed with x300. I would contact Safariland, see if they know if Nighthawks are a known fit issue or if it's possible your specific holster is the incorrect one or mis-sized. I went though a big pile of new and used 6004s for P226 no light, and they all fit my Sig a little different. May be an issue with YOUR holster, not the model itself.

^^. Thank you for some constructive feedback.

I actually sent it In to Safari to be rechecked. They said no problem found. Called nighthawk. They didn't know safari made a holster with light undermount... Didn't have much input on fit and said more like a colt fitmet. Which I assumed was like Springfield/Kimber/etc... I guess I'll have to try more out. Thx!!

To the others. Lets assume for the sake of argument I'm running a plate carrier or tac vest with an AR pattern rifle slung and prefer the drop leg as I can run my kit well this way.. In Car deployment does suck with a thigh rig...

And for the record, no my gear will not need to sustain multiple hits to the back from a 338 lapua.

Hope Safari gets you the right one.. also, have you ever thought about chest rig holster? I prefer having my pistol onto my vest or carrier than thigh holster.

I'll have to try setting that up. I think for my tastes it adds too much width to my vest and makes tight quarters or prone harder. I do run a g26 as a backup to my secondary. Not sure how I'd fit a full size...

You might try Blade Tech. They show a drop leg holster for Sig GSR1911 with an X200 light combo or the Sig with M3-M6 light. Don't know if the X300 light would work, you could ask.

That is odd why your Nighthawk won't fit. May be worth trying a new holster system then.

As for the 6004 set-up, running it up on your chest is fine for certain set-ups. Mission dictates. But as for a thigh-rig, I tolerated the standard 6004 set-up when using a belt and/or vest set-up. I tried a 6004 on this platform:

Even with a vest it worked very well for me. It's still low enough to clear your vest, but it sits more like a low hanging belt holster.
